Parker Services Inc.

Parker Services Inc., a regional full-service staffing firm, has appointed Jana Shook manager of its Seattle office.

Metawave Communications Corporation

Metawave Communications Corporation has hired Richard Henderson vice president of sales and marketing. Henderson will oversee the international sales and marketing efforts for the company's spectrum management systems, used by wireless operators to improve network capacity, coverage and call quality. Henderson was formerly vice president of marketing operations in Nortell's cellular group.

Puget Sound Energy

Susan McLain has been promoted to vice president of corporate performance for Bellevue-based Puget Sound Energy. McLain previously had been director of planning and work practices.

Northwestern Trust

Northwestern Trust and Investors Advisory Company of Seattle is enlarging its offices located in the Washington Mutual Tower in downtown Seattle. They already occupy 7,500 square feet of office space on the 20th floor, and will add 4,000 square feet on the 21st floor. Northwestern Trust is a private trust company offering both personal and institutional trust services.

Trendwest Resorts

Mark McCulley has been named associate counsel for Bellevue's Trendwest Resorts Inc. McCulley was formerly associated with the Seattle law firm Rinehart Robblee & Hannah.

TCI Media Services

Rick Bauman has rejoined TCI Media Services as general sales manager. Bauaman formerly served as director of sales for Seattle's Entercom Radio's news-talk division. Bauman will oversee eight sales managers and 50 account executives in six offices in western Washington.

Dragon Eyes Inc.

Ken Theonnes recently launched Dragon Eyes, an international practice and general accounting firm serving clients throughout Washington and Oregon. Theonnes previously served as director of international practice for Yergen and Meyer in Portland. Dragon Eyes nopw serves Yergen and Meyer's former international practice clients. Dragon Eyes is located in Newcastle.

Data I/O Corporation

Data I/O Corporation, Redmond-based developer of programming technology for integrated circuits, has appointed James J David president. Milton Zeutschel was recently appointed acting president and will continue as CEO. Zeutschel and David will serve in these roles as the board conducts a search for a new president and CEO. David previously served as a faculty member at the Center for Ethical Leadership in Seattle.

The Bartlett Group

Patrick McNerthney has been named account coordinator at The Bartlett Group, a Seattle public relations and marketing communications firm. McNerthney previously worked at Elgin Syferd.

Columbia Forge

Douglas W. McMullin has been appointed general manager of Columbia Forge and Machine Works, a Portland-based steel plant. McMullin has worked as the manufacturing engineer at Columbia Forge since 1981.

King County Executive Ron Sims

King County Executive Ron Sims has appointed Steve Call as assistant deputy county executive, Stephanie Warden as deputy chief of staff, Elaine Craft as communications director, Laverne Lamoreux and Heidi Wills as special assistants to the executive, and Rose Dotson as a confidential secretary in the office.

Ninth Circuit Bankruptcy Appellate Panel

United States Bankruptcy Judge Philip H. Brandt, formerly judge ofr the bankruptcy court for the western district of Washington, has been appointed to serve on the Ninth Cicuit Bankruptcy Appelleate Panel. Brandt had sat in both Seattle and Tacoma since 1991.

Snohomish County

Norman J. Thiersch has been selected to be the chief medical examiner for Snohomish County. Thiersch will be the head of the department responsible for conducting autopsies and investigating deaths. Thiersch was formerly the associate medical examiner for King County.

U.S. Small Business Administration

Andrew Munro has been appointed to serve as the regional advocate for the Pacific Northwest region of the U.S. Small Business Administration. Munro will represent the needs of the small business community within the Administration. Munro formerly served as deputy district director for congressman Norm Dicks.

CB Commercial

Michael Nemirow has joined the Bellevue office of CB Commercial Real Estate Group as a sales assistant. Formerly employed by Grubb & Ellis, Nemirow specializes in the leasing and sales of high-tech and industrial properties. CB Commercial also has rehired Tim Good, a 26-year veteran of commercial real estate who spent the last two years at Grubb & Ellis after having previously worked at CB. During his career Good has sold, leased or developed 5 million square feet of office and industrial property, including 1.1 million square feet in the Puget Sound region over the past 30 months. Good will focus on the sale of office and investment properties in CB's Tukwila office.

Cushman & Wakefield

In the Valuation Advisory Services group of Cushman & Wakefield of Washington, Inc., Scott F. Biethan has been promoted to managing director and Valerie A. Foster has been named associate director. Biethan is a 12-year veteran of Cushman & Wakefield, specializing in consulting on institutional-grade projects. Foster has been with the firm three years. She received her Member of Appraisal Institute (MAI) designation in 1995, and is the former chair of the institute's education committee.

Coldwell Banker Bain

Coldwell Banker Bain Associates has added a new office to its Northwest network. Called Bellevue East, the new office will focus on new construction representation. Besides resale business, the office will include three groups focusing on new construction. They are Torgerson & Associates, a condominium marketing group led by Faye Torgerson; Builder Site Services, led by Bill Donohoe and Barbara Allen; and New Homes, under Scott Cameron. Managing broker of the new branch is Michael Waggoner.

Windermere Real Estate

Six new sales agents have been hired in Windermere Real Estate's Issaquah and Bellevue West offices. Bob Richards, Dave Paremski, Karen Paremski and George Orren have joined the Issaquah office. Barry I. Brenan and Karen Marie are new at Bellevue West.

PNC Mortgage

Daniel Bernal has joined PNC Mortgage in Bellingham as a loan officer. Bernal has 15 years' experience in the financial services industry and is a graduate of PNC Mortgage Corp. of America's lending training program. PNC Mortgage Corp. is a nationwide mortgage banking company with a portfolio of roughly 495,000 loans worth more than $42 billion. In 1997 the company funded $5.6 billion in home loans.

SIOR

On March 5 the Society of Office and Industrial Realtors is putting on its annual Broker/Developer of the Year Crystal Awards Luncheon. The event will begin at 11:45 a.m. in the Spanish Ballroom of the Four Seasons Olympic Hotel in Seattle. Advance tickets are $40 per person or $350 for a table of 10. No tickets will be sold at the door. Because this event sells out every year, SIOR advises making early reservations. Merrill Gardens

Merrill Gardens, a subsidiary of Seattle's R.D. Merrill Company that specilizes in senior housing, last week reached an agreement to buy two assisted-living retirement communities in Sarasota, Florida. The seller is Gil Waters. The property consists of The Atrium and The Bayou, two connected facilities comprising 170 living units. Included in the purchase is a nearby office building leased by a rehabilitation and home health services company; that company will provide services to Merrill Gardens tenants. Merrill Gardens already owns another retirement property in Orange City. Additional openings planned this year in Port St. Lucie, Casselberry and Tamarack.

Lexford

Lexford, Inc. (NASDAQ: CRSI), of Columbus, Ohio, announced that it will will elect to be taxed as a self-managed, self-administered real estate investment trust specializing in multi-family properties. The new REIT will be called Lexford Residential Trust. The conversion will be affected by the merger of Lexford, Inc. with and into Lexford Residential Trust. Shareholder approval will be required. Once the REIT is operating, it will focus on apartment properties with rents in the $400 to $500 range -- a market segment that it says has not attracted interest from other REITs. Lexford, Inc. is one of the nation's largest investors in multi-family properties, with full or partial ownership of 33,172 units.

Mortgage Market

Mortgage Market, Inc., of Bellevue, will present the Institute of Real Estate Success's continuing education class for real estate agents, "New construction in the 90s: How to list and sell new homes and condos." The 7.5 clock-hour class will be held from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 29 at the Best Western Bellevue Inn. Foster Pepper & Shefelman

Seattle law firm Foster Pepper & Shefelman PLLC will present its annual update seminar on real estate and land use law.
