Association for Women in Communications

The Seattle chapter of The Association for Women in Communications will hold its annual Matrix Table dinner event at 5:30 p.m., May 6th, at the Westin Hotel in downtown Seattle. This year's Matrix Table will feature mystery writer J.A. Jance as its speaker and honor six "Women of Achievement" and one company with a "Corporate Excellence Award." The women to be honored include Barbara Hedges, University of Washington Director of Athletics; Irene Harvitz, community activist for the disabled; Melissa Hines, managing director of the Empty Space Theatre; Judith Billings, former state superintendent of public instruction and founder of Targeted Alliances; Sharon Elliott, senior vice president of human resources, Starbucks Coffee Company; and K.D. Hallman, director-I.T.G, Microsoft Corporation. The company to be honored is the Boeing Employees' Credit Union. Cost is $60 per person and $40 for students. WHaM Communications

WHaM Communications, a Northwest marketing public relations firm, has added three new accounts. Decibel Instruments, Inc., Freemont, Calif., Orthodontics Centers of America, headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, and advertising agency Bozell Worldwide Seattle have all retained WHaM to provide ongoing public relations counsel.

Ad Mark Services

Beth Pascarella has been named media manager for Ad Mark Services, a Seattle-based advertising and marketing services agency. Pascarella was formerly the media buyer and account manager for Westco Marketing.

Fisher Properties

Scott Herrmann has been promoted to director of marketing for Fisher Properties in Seattle. Herrmann previously served four years with Fisher Properties as associate director of commercial leasing. Prior to that, Herrmann worked with Nooney Krombach in St. Louis, Mo.

Kidder, Mathews & Segner

Curt Ghan has been named senior vice president and branch manager of the Seattle office of Kidder, Mathews & Segner. Prior to joining the firm in 1995, Ghan was vice president of marketing for AT&T Gateway Tower (now Key Tower) and has been in the commercial real estate industry for 20 years. He will continue to specialize in Seattle office leasing.

Prudential Northwest Realty Associates

Prudential Northwest Realty Associates, the top producing Prudential affiliate in Washington, is now solely owned by two of its three original owners. They are Roger Cayce and Mike Gain. The third partner, John Wunder, has moved on to other interests in commercial real estate and property management through his own firm, Associates West. In the meantime, Prudential Northwest Realty was named winner of the Pinnacle Office Award for top residential and top closed residential units in 1997 by the Prudential Real Estate Affiliates, Inc. in March.

RE/MAX Masters

Steve Tarabochia, owner/broker of RE/MAX Masters, Inc., in Everett, has earned the Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager (CRB) designation from the Real Estate Brokerage Managers Council. Tarabochia is president-elect of the Snohomish Camano Association of Realtors and a director of the Washington State Association of Realtors.

John L. Scott Real Estate

J. Lennox Scott, president of John L. Scott Real Estate, has received the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award. The award was presented March 25 at the annual Eastside Friends of Scouting Breakfast at Bellevue's Meydenbauer Center. It goes to Eagle Scouts who, after 25 years, have distinguished themselves in their life work and have voluntarily shared their talents with the community. The breakfast raised $186,539 for scouting.

Windermere

New technology has come to Windermere's residential real estate agents. Using Pocket Net, AT&T's new cellular service, agents can get immediate access to a database of information about properties for sale. Data about such things as active, pending and sold properties, including address, number of baths, bedrooms and other amenities, is displayed directly on the telephones' screens. The required software was developed by Windermere. Pocket Net works with telephones manufactured by Mitsubishi and Samsung.

GMAC Commercial Mortgage

GMAC Commercial Mortgage, of Horsham, Pa., has arranged $6.25 million in financing for construction of Hampton Inn Southcenter in Tukwila. The permanent loan has a fixed interest rate of 1.3 percent and a 10-year treasury. It was provided to Tukwila Associates Limited Partnership. The loan to value ratio was 58 percent with debt service coverage ratio of 1.96 with 25-year amortization. When finished, the hotel will have 154 rooms with an average nightly rate of $72.21. It will have meeting rooms, a pool and fitness center in 62,670 square feet.

NAIOP property tour

The National Association of Industrial and Office Properties will present its 1998 property tour on May 14. The bus excursion will depart the Redhook brewery in Woodinville at noon and return at 4 p.m. after visiting sites in Bothell, Woodinville, Redmond and Everett. Sponsorships are available. Presentation on retail forecasting

J'Amy Owens, president of The Retail Group and an authority on retail and consumer trends, will speak on retail forecasting at a joint meeting of the Northwest Shopping Center Association and the Washington Retail Association.
