Helsell Fetterman

Lish Whitson, a partner in the Seattle law firm of Helsell Fetterman, has been inducted as a fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers. Whitson concentrates his practice in federal and state court civil litigation law at Helsell Fetterman. The College, founded in 1950, identifies outstanding lawyers who have demonstrated a dedication to improving the standards of trial practice, administration of justice and ethics in the profession.

KUOW 94.9 Public Radio

KUOW 94.9 Public Radio has received a $210,000 Radio Program Fund Grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting for Rewind, its weekly satirical news program. The grant will be used to broadcast the program nationally and increase the show from thirty minutes to one hour. Rewind began airing in the fall of 1996 and is the brainchild of host Bill Radke. Radke formerly hosted a local news magazine at National Public Radio member station WMFE in Orlando, Florida. KUOW airs Rewind on Saturdays at 10 a.m., with a repeat broadcast on Sundays at 2 p.m.

Lydig

Bellevue-based Lydig Construction Inc. has made several changes to its staff. Bill Dobyns has joined as a project manager, Peter Ottele was recently promoted to project manager, and Hans Hansen is expected to become a project engineer in June. Dobyns has over 14 years of industry experience, Ottele is a recent graduate of the University of Washington, and Hansen will graduate from the UW in June.

Big Brothers of King County

Big Brothers of King County has named Anita Hale and Sara Hannu as new intake coordinators at the Eastside office. Hale and Hannu will be responsible for screening and matching potential Big and Little Brothers for the program. Hale previously served as a staff attorney and advocate counselor for Prairie Legal Services Inc. in Illinois. Hannu previously worked as a family literacy support coordinator for Washington Literacy.

Washington Software Alliance

The Washington Software Alliance is holding its 1998 Investor Forum on June 2nd at Seattle's Westin Hotel. Presenter applications for this event are due by 5 p.m., April 17. The purpose of the forum is to provide funding opportunities to high-tech firms. The association will select a mix of 18 companies at various stages of financing needs and showcase them through formal presentations and in-person meetings with potential investors. Over 250 investors are expected to attend the event. Foster Pepper & Shefelman

Gail Bennett has become co-chair of the intellectual property practice group in Foster Pepper & Shefelman's Seattle law offices. Bennett's practice emphasizes intellectual property matters including technology development and licensing, copyright, and trade secret protection. Bennett will lead the group with her co-chair, Lynne Graybeal.

Sterling Savings Association

David Sharon has been appointed private banking loan officer for Sterling Savings Association's Private Banking office in Bellevue. Sharon formerly served as a relationship manager in Private Banking with Seafirst Bank in Seattle. Sterling Financial Corporation of Spokane is a savings and loan holding company which owns Sterling Savings Association.

Phoenix Savings Bank

Phillip John Sustad has joined Phoenix Savings Bank as a new loan officer in the Lynnwood office. Sustad previously worked in management with Safeway Stores, Inc. in Seattle. Phoenix Savings Bank, headquartered in Lynnwood, offers safe, high-yield certificates of deposit and money-market accounts, and loans to home buyers and builders.
