Rob Forenza has joined the Bellevue office of Colliers International as a commercial real estate agent specializing in office leasing and sales. He has a bachelor's degree in business administration.
Larry Klatt has joined Unico Properties as general manager. He will oversee the operations, management and leasing of Unico's 900,000 square feet of commercial office space in Renton and Tacoma, including Wells Fargo Plaza, One, Two and Three Renton Place in Tacoma, and Valley Office Park in Renton. He has six years of property management experience and most recently was with Tower Realty Management Corp. Before that, he worked for Hines Interests in Houston.
Mortgage Market has named three new branch managers. Jennifer Payment, Jim Bowman and Tuan Hoang are new managers for the Bellevue, Federal Way and Northgate offices respectively. Mortgage Market is a Lake Oswego, Ore.-based mortgage banker and broker with multiple offices.
John L. Scott Real Estate Network will be the exclusive Western Washington representative for a new luxury vessel, The World of ResidenSea, through its affiliation with Christie's Great Estates. The German shipyard Howaldstwerke -- Deutsche Werft AG of Kiel recently signed a contract to build the vessel which it says will be the first residential community at sea. It will cost $545 million to built and be completed in 2001. The ship will have 286 apartments and residence suites which will range in price from $800,000 to $6.6 million for a 4,161-square-foot unit. Guests suites will also be available for rent. Frank Leach has been named branch manager of the Silverdale office with a staff of 60. Ellen Thane has retired from that post after 16 years. Leach has been with the firm since 1983.
Cushman & Wakefield has established a presence in Australia through an association with Laing & Simmons, a member of the Commercial Property Network. This is part of a worldwide expansion program being undertaken by the firm and its European associates, Healey & Baker.
Five real estate industry associations are presenting a day-long technology summit on June 11 to help real estate professionals and their affiliates navigate through the maze of technology avilable to them. "Technology in the new Millennium" will be held at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue. Registration costs $65 and includes clock-hour classes. It may be arranged through the Seattle-King County Association of Realtors at 800/540-3277. A half-day option is available for $50. The keynote speaker will be technology visionary Roald Marth to discuss Web-based applications for the industry, ways to use the Internet and how to assess emerging technologies. Bradley Inman, president of a real estate news and information service, will speak on changes the industry is facing. Breakout sessions will include "The Mobile/Virtual Office," "Technology Issues for Brokers," and a panel discussion on cyberspace success stories.

Donald R. Bell, Ph.D., has been appointed Dean of the School of Business at Pacific Lutheran University. From 1988 to 1997, Bell served as assistant dean at the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota. For eleven years prior to 1988, he directed the M.B.A. program at the University of Washington.
Vince Limburg has been named executive director of SunPointe Senior Living, a new 70-unit assisted living and alzheimer's care residence in Bellevue. Sunpointe has opened an information office in Bellevue, just north of the building site at 1600 148th Ave. S.E., Suite B. The community is scheduled to open in August 1998.
David C. Spellman has been elected partner at the law firm of Lane Powell Spears Lubersky in the Seattle office, where his practice focuses on commercial litigation and business law.
PacifiCare of Washington, one of the state's largest health care services contractors, has selected Geoffrey MacPherson, M.D., as its medical director. MacPherson previously served as medical director at PacifiCare of Utah.
Bogle & Gates recently honored attorneys Robert Mahon, Kathy Shechan, and David Zapolsky, presenting them with the firm's Robert W. Graham Public Service Award for providing outstanding pro bono legal assistance to clients of limited means. The three winners dedicated more than 1,000 hours to pro bono projects in 1997.
