Gerald Warren has joined Smith Tractor & Equipment Co. as rental manager and parts representative for the Montesano store. The store serves Thurston, Mason, Grays Harbor and Pacific counties. Warren comes to Smith Tractor with four years' experience in sales to the construction industry working for Pacific North and H.D. Fowler. He lives in Rochester. Founded in 1955, Smith Tractor sells and rents machinery and attachments, and provides parts and services machinery, for the construction, forestry, asphalt and utility industries. Product lines include John Deere, Dynapac, Rosco, Melroe, Bobcat, Trail King, Teledyne, Kundel and Bell. In addition to Montesano, the company has stores in Tacoma, Kent, Mt. Vernon, Wenatchee, Yakima, Chehalis, and Anchorage and Fairbanks, Alaska.
Pacific North Equipment has been named a "Top 10 Dealer" by Sakai America for 1998. The award was presented to the senior leadership team at the Kent branch. "Sakai has been a great addition to our product offerings, since they offer over 25 different models in their lineup of soil and asphalt rollers," said Jim Hassebrock, vice president of customer service. "Sakai has built a solid reputation as the most reliable product in its class. We're proud to be named a Top 10 Dealer." Pacific North also announced that Marc Bandy has joined the firm as territory manager for Snohomish county. Bandy will represent Komatsu wheel loaders, dozers and excavators; Moxy articulated trucks; Sakai rollers; and Timberjack timber harvesting products. Pacific North provides parts, sales, service and rentals for Komatsu, Dresser, Timberjack, Sakai, Moxy, Interstate and Esco products in Washington, Oregon, Alaska and eastern Russia.
Daigle Design, a Bainbridge Island-based marketing communications firm, recently added Jim Rynearson. Rynearson formerly worked at Best Consulting, a regional computer consulting firm.
Publicis Dialog recently appointed Ronald Pratt as president of its Seattle public relations unit. Pratt will succeed Steve Bryant, who was recently appointed chief creative officer of the national Publicis Dialog PR division. Pratt formerly served as general manager of San Francisco-based Porter Novelli.
Imagio Technology Advertising and Public Relations, a Seattle-based high-tech marketing communications firm, has added Gina Calabria as senior account executive; Tammy Cloutier as account coordinator; Laura DeVilbiss as account coordinator; and Masha Tsiklauri as assistant account executive. Calabria formerly served as a senior account executive at Shandwick in Bellevue; Cloutier formerly served as an intern at MWW/Savitt in Seattle; DeVilbiss formerly served as an event coordinator for Conely and Associates in Seattle; and Tsiklauri formerly served as a marketing assistant at the Far East Maritime Agency in Seattle.
Niki Hermanson recently joined Seattle-Northwest Securities Corp. in the newly created position of marketing director. Hermanson formerly served as senior vice president and manager of marketing and communications for Laird Norton Financial Group and Laird Norton Trust Co.

The Cobalt Group, a Seattle-based provider of Internet marketing solutions to automotive dealerships, has named Pamela L. Follett director of human resources. Follett formerly served as company controller for Alaska Trawl Fisheries Inc. and ProFish International Inc.
Samuel N. Stroum of Samuel Stroum Enterprises will be honored as the recipient of the 1999 E. Donnall Thomas Medal of Achievement, sponsored by the Northwest Industry Partnership. The medal is presented annually to individuals who characterize E. Donnall Thomas' leadership and dedication. Thomas, director emeritus of the clinical research division at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, was awarded the 1990 Nobel Prize in Medicine. The Northwest Industry Partnership was established to provide a lasting contribution to the cancer center.
Bill Weaver was recently appointed president of Monroe's Canyon Creek Cabinet Co. President Lee Zuker will retire from the full-time position but continue to work with the company in an advisory capacity for the next year. Weaver formerly served as vice president of sales and marketing at Canyon Creek.
Food Services of America, a Seattle-based food distribution company, recently appointed Gene Steffes, president of the Kent group, vice president of the parent company, Services Group of America. Steffes will be replaced in Kent by Spokane branch president Gary Hayden. Hayden's new role will move Mike George, vice president of merchandising in Spokane, into the position of president of the Spokane branch.
Chiroscience R&D, the drug discovery subsidiary of Chiroscience Group, recently appointed Randall Schatzman vice president of gene discovery in its Seattle facility. Schatzman will be responsible for overseeing activities in gene discovery, with a focus on novel proprietary targets. Schatzman formerly served as vice president of cell and molecular biology at Progenitor Inc.
Dr. Jane Guiltinan, associate professor and chief medical officer for the Natural Medicine Clinic at Bastyr University, has been named to the Harborview Medical Center Board of Trustees.
Greg Moore has been hired as director of operations and planning for Northwest Landing, Weyerhaeuser Real Estate Co.'s mixed-use community in Dupont. Previously he was director of community development services for the city of Federal Way and assistant planning director at Redmond City Hall. Also at Northwest Landing, Angela Sherman has been hired as community sales representative. She will work with residential real estate agents to promote the development. She has worked as a sales representative for Quadrant Homes and Rush Construction at Northwest Landing. Last year, she won a Major Achievement in Marketing Awards for sales exceeding $4 million. Her new commute is a short one because she lives at Northwest Landing.
Lynnwood Mortgage has a new office and several new employees at its Lake Stevens branch. The new office is at 1106 Vernon Road in Suite B, and the telephone number is (425) 335-7997. Since October, the branch staff has been doubled to 12 employees. The latest additions are three loan officers, Nita Consiglio, Leah Wagner and Patricia Wernofsky; a new loan processor, Mary Larson; and a new receptionist, Tina Rosencrans. Shari Erickson has been promoted to operations manager and lead processor.
Lincoln Bouillon, Patrick Craft and Moira Holley have joined the Windermere Eastlake office in Seattle as sales associates. Holley previously worked for John L. Scott Realty in Seattle and specializes in downtown Seattle condominiums. Bouillon and Craft are new to real estate.
Eastside agents led the way for Re/Max, which reported a banner 1998 in the Pacific Northwest. Agents set a Re/Max record by helping buy or sell 29,206 homes in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. That's a 9 percent increase over 1997. Total dollar volume, also a record, was $4.5 billion. Dollar volume per agent was up 15 percent and transaction volume increased 5 percent. Judy Laton of the Lake office in Kirkland was the top sales associate in Washington.
Subert-Gregory & Woodstrom, a Mercer Island advertising firm that specializes in marketing masterplanned communities, won the top marketing awards at the National Home Builders International Show in Dallas earlier this year. It won the Gold Award for Best Logo Design, Best Brochure and Best Sales Office as well as regional finalist awards for Best Signage and Best Website. The crowning glory was Masterplanned Community of Year Award. The awards were for work done on Orenco Station in East Hillsboro, Ore., adjacent to Portland's new Westside light rail line.
Coldwell Banker Bain introduced Concierge, a free service for buyers or sellers who need work done on their homes. The service arranges for whatever work needs done, and Concierge representatives follow up on all jobs to ensure the work is done correctly. Concierge, said Coldwell Bank Bain President William J. Riss is "likely to change the face of real estate."
