Westar Financial Services

Westar Financial Services, a prime-credit auto lender and lessor, has recruited Scott Cavanaugh as vice president-collections. Cavanaugh joins Westar from Bank of America, where he was vice president and collection manager since 1995.

Lane Powell Spears Lubersky

Steven D. Jensen has joined the law firm of Lane Powell Lubersky as an associate. He concentrates on tort litigation, ERISA litigation and employment law.

Van Kampen & Associates

Van Kampen & Associates has opened an office in downtown Seattle. The law firm focuses on intellectual property, antitrust and health care legal issues. The head of the office is Al Van Kampen, a former partner at Bogle & Gates. He was that firm's key intellectual property and antitrust lawyer. The new firm will also specialize in representing physicians and handling e-commerce issues.

KNCB/Dave

Mindy Kraft has been named a shareholder at the local advertising and public relations agency KNCB/Dave. Company president Dave Syferd said she is partly responsible for the new direction the agency has been moving in. She will continue in her responsibilities as director of media and will participate as a voting partner.

Cornerstone

Lee Wangerin has joined Cornerstone Architecture as vice president of business development. He has 25 years of experience in planning, project management and marketing professional design services.

McGowan Broz

Frank H. Starr has joined McGowan Broz Engineers as senior electrical engineer, with 25 years of experience in facilities design and construction. He is now at work on the Sea-Tac Airport electrical systems master plan for the Port of Seattle. Michael L. Cailao has joined the firm with 18 years of experience in structural, mechanical, electrical drafting and CAD. His current projects include the Sea-Tac Airport emergency generator upgrades project. Nakea J.C. Allerdice has been hired as mechanical CAD technician. She is currently assigned to the Port of Seattle's Automated Facility User System and the Sea-Tac Airport Control Tower.

Art Anderson

Ralph E. Duncan has joined Art Anderson Associates and is acting as project manager for several marine projects. He is a mechanical engineer with 25 years of experience as a U.S. Navy engineering officer. He is a member of the National Academy of Forensic Engineers and the Society of Boat and Yacht Designers.

Hough Beck & Baird

James L. Howard has been promoted to the level of senior associate at Hough Beck & Baird. He has been with the firm since 1986, and his current projects include the Snoqualmie Ridge Parkway and Neighborhood Center, Longfellow Creek revegetation, Sea-Tac International Airport Roadways and Shoreline Aurora corridor. Derek J. Gustafson has been promoted to the level of associate. He joined the firm in 1994, and his current projects include the Sea-Tac International Airport parking facility expansion, Sound Transit Light Rail, The Park at Bothell Landing, Cedar River Trail Revisions and Lake Killarney Park.

Entranco

Entranco of Bellevue has promoted two members of the firm's marketing group and added one new staff member. Milissa Kelly has been promoted to the position of Northwest region marketing manager. She has been with the firm for three years, and serves on the programs committee for the Society for Marketing Professional Services. Katie Hart has been promoted to senior marketing coordinator, and coordinates proposals and presentations. Melissa Quesada has joined the firm as marketing coordinator. She was previously with West 175 Enterprises, where she served as public relations coordinator. Entranco has also added four new staff members to the Olympia office. Debra Delzell joins Entranco as a civil engineer. She is currently assisting with a corridor and bridge replacement for the city of Olympia. Edward Mecum has also joined the firm as a civil engineer, specializing in stormwater, potable water and wastewater systems. He previously worked for Economic and Engineering Design Services. Mae Ostergren has joined Entranco as business services coordinator. She has spent many years in state government. Fabian Yebra has been hired as CAD technician.

HWA

Robert E. Kimmerling has joined HWA Geosciences and is managing the Terminal 18 redevelopment design-build project on Harbor Island. He has worked for the Washington State Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration.

R.W. Beck

Andrew Behnke has joined R.W. Beck as a project civil engineer in support of the firm's water and wastewater group. Dhanji Mungra has joined the firm's technical energy services division. He holds a degree in electrical engineering and was previously with Boeing.

BOORA

Janet Bebb, a landscape architect, has joined BOORA Architects of Portland as project manager for Adidas Village, a new headquarters for Adidas America in North Portland; and a new $70 million Arts and Entertainment Center in Mesa, Ariz. For the past four years, Bebb has been with the Portland Parks and Recreation Department as a program manager of community centers and urban parks. Phillip Chubb, an architect, has also joined the team for the Adidas project. He previously worked for Mahlum Architects and Dull Olson Weekes Architects. Eric Miller has joined the architecture staff to work on the $50 million National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati. He has a master's degree from the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. Stuart Spafford is now working on a 722-car parking garage and site improvements in connection with the $60 million Center for the Arts at the University of California, Davis. Prior to joining BOORA, he worked with Morphosis in Santa Monica, Calif., and Zimmer Gunsul Frasca in Portland.

Mithun

Mithun Partners has promoted 16 people in the last year. Lisa Folkins has been named principal. Steve Cox and Mark Smedley are now senior associates. New associates at Mithun include John Amanat, Steven Bull, Richard C. Franco, Cynthia Garzina, John Harrison, Jean Joichi, Brent McDonald, Derrick Overbay, Jay Pickering, Matt Roewe, John Shoesmith, Scott Waytashek and Simon Williams.

Sparling

James R. Duncan, president of Sparling, has been named an honorary member of the Seattle Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. In addition to collaborating with architects professionally, Duncan is a member of the Seattle Architectural Foundation Board of Trustees and has been active in programs supporting the annual Architecture Week. He was named Fellow of the American Consulting Engineers Council in 1998 and is a past president of the Consulting Engineers Council of Washington and the Electric League of the Pacific Northwest. In 1995, Duncan was honored with the A.O. Bumgardner Award for the Seattle Architectural Foundation in recognition for his role in the "City Walk for Kids" program. He is now leading the electrical engineering team for the Experience Music Project and the University of Washington Medical Center.

CleanScapes

CleanScapes, a Pioneer Square streetscape management company that hires people from shelters to clean sidewalks and alleys, won the 1999 Mayor's Small Business Award. It was started two years ago by Chris Martin and works for both property owners and the Pioneer Square Parking and Business Improvement Area.

Boeing Employees Credit Union

Six Boeing Employees Credit Union automated teller machines will be installed at Safeco Field. BECU will have exclusive ATM services at the ballpark through the 2004 baseball season. These are its first ATMs in downtown Seattle.

Norfox Software

Norfox Software of Lynnwood was chosen by the U.S. Navy to provide its Labmate software program to Navy calibration labs around the world, replacing a variety of programs currently in use by the Navy and allowing all systems to talk to one another. Calibration labs maintain the accuracy of test and measurement equipment.

Workskiff

Workskiff, the Bothell-based manufacturer of aluminum workboats, has moved its headquarters to Camano Island. President George Lundgren, a naval architect and engineer who developed the boat line, said the new offices will be in Stanwood. The boats are used for utility, fishing, patrol, pollution control and research.

Resort Semiahmoo

Trillium Corp. has hired Seattle-based MTM Management to manage the Resort Semiahmoo including the inn, golf course and marina. Trillium will continue to manage real estate development and sales. MTM was co-founded in 1996 by Jim Treadway, Mike Malone and Craig McCaw to manage high-end, full service independent hotels and resorts. Current properties include the Sorrento Hotel in Seattle, Freestone Inn in Mazama and the Willows Lodge in Woodinville which is scheduled to open next summer.

Short Cressman & Burgess

Short Cressman & Burgess, a Seattle-based law firm, recently added Mark. S. Nadler and Robert A. Stewart as Of Counsel. Nadler and Stewart were formerly with Bogle & Gates. Ann T. Wilson was elected a member of the firm, and N. Elizabeth McCaw has joined the firm as an associate.

aBCD Printing

aBCD Printing, a performance-oriented commercial digital printer, recently changed its name to Reischling Press Inc. and moved to a newly purchased and renovated 20,000-square foot building at 507 Westlake Ave. N. in Seattle.

Graham & Dunn

Robert G. Bergquist, a shareholder in the Seattle-based law firm Graham & Dunn, was recently elected president and chair of the MIT Enterprise Forum of the Northwest. MIT is a not-for-profit organization formed to promote the process of start-up and growing companies with a strong technology orientation.

National Frozen Foods

Richard H. Grader was recently named president of Seattle-based National Frozen Foods Corp. Grader formerly served as executive vice president.

Seattle Public Utilities

Seattle Public Utilities recently added Ron Harris-White as public relations specialist, and Dick Lilly as media relations coordinator. Harris-White formerly headed his own publishing business producing community newspapers in Hilo, Hawaii. Lilly formerly served as a reporter for The Seattle Times.

Peterson

John E. Anthony has joined Peterson Consulting Engineers as a senior consultant responsible for land use planning, entitlements and business development. Recent projects include Falls Crossing and Port Quendall. Ryan Green has joined the firm as a CAD technician.
