BOORA

BOORA Architects in Portland has promoted Christopher Purdy and Thomas Robbins to associates in the firm.

Purdy is the project manager for the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, the Sacramento Kings Practice Facility and tenant improvements to NikeTowns throughout the West Coast. His work also includes renovation and restoration of Seattle's Cinerama Theatre.

Robbins has played a variety of roles on projects, ranging from designer to construction administrator. His work in Seattle includes several projects for Vulcan Northwest, a company owned by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen. These projects include the renovation and restoration of Cinerama Theatre and the founders' room for the Experience Museum Project.

Boxwood

Kathleen Petrie has joined Boxwood, an architectural firm in Seattle, as an intern architect. She has experience in construction documentation and administration. She will be working on the Animal Health Care Facility for Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium and a private residence on Camano Island.

Boxwood specializes in community centers, medical facilities, transit and industrial projects.

Bush, Roed & Hitchings

Sunday White has joined Bush, Roed & Hitchings as the front office administrator. She has prior experience as a customer service representative.

Freiheit & Ho

Richard Gardner has been promoted to associate of Freheit & Ho Architects in Bellevue. He joined the firm in 1997 as an architectural draftsman. He is working on the Sycuan Tribal Administration building, the Coeur D'Alene Hotel and various projects for Albertson's.

The firm has hired several new employees as architectural draftsmen: Thom Keys, Aimee Rush, Marcus Thomas, David Finger, Rami Ghaled, Sandra Gomes, Grace Quiroga and Jenny Li.

Sarah Ruether has been hired as an administrative and marketing assistant.

Harding Lawson Associates

Jack Pittis has joined Harding Lawson Associates in Bellevue as principal engineer of the transportation staff. He joins HLA after working 19 years for the city of Port Angeles as the director of public works.

KPFF

Jaime Sáez has been promoted to an associate of KPFF Consulting Engineers, a civil and structural engineering firm in Seattle. He is a civil engineer with experience in design and management for transportation, infrastructure and site development projects. His projects include Redmond Ridge, a 1,000-acre urban-planned development, and Fremont Block 40, a retail and residential complex. Saez began his career with the Washington State Department of Transportation before he became a consulting engineer.

SRG Partnership

SRG Partnership, an architecture, planning and interior design in Portland, has promoted and hired several employees.

A new principal, Kenneth Mouchka is lead project manager for a new $92 million research and development facility in San Francisco.

David Morey, a senior associate, will be working on the Sony Corp.'s Springfield campus and will act as project architect on the company's new research and development facility in San Francisco.

Gregory Williams joins SRG as a senior associate and project architect. He will be working on the Lillis Business Complex at the University of Oregon, a $37.5 million renovation and expansion program for the College of Business.

Brad Rice, senior associate, has been hired as the firm's business manager. Jori Bourret, interior designer, has been promoted to senior associate. She has worked on buildings at the Oregon Health Sciences University, Mercy Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente and Wells Fargo.

Electronic Systems Technology

Electronic Systems Technology of Kennewick and Spillman Technologies of Logan, Utah, announced an alliance to provide mobile data information solutions to police departments in Washington, Idaho and Alabama. With wireless communications hardware from EST and software from Spillman, the two companies will provide access to local, state and national databases to the officer in the field. Departments using the technology will include the Centralia Police Department.

Fox Industries

Fox Industries, a Kirkland-based software development company, has leased about 5,239 square feet of office space at 10512 N.E. 68th St. in Kirkland. Ryan Dunham Real Estate of Kirkland negotiated the transaction.

StairMaster

StairMaster Sports & Medical Products of Kirkland is changing its name to StairMaster Health & Fitness Products, Inc. Tom Bryant, president of StairMaster, announced the change, saying that it will better reflect the products and services. The company also changed the name of its Sports Medicine Division to StairMaster Health and Fitness Institute. The company provides fitness products such as treadmills, exercise bikes and strength equipment.

Publicis

Publicis of Seattle announced 19 new hires and six promotions. New hires in advertising are Sean Clark, senior principal, group management director; Jonathan Thompson, digital studio manager; Andrea Lewellen, account supervisor; Peggy Johnson, print production supervisor; Jon Drahn, electronic production artist; Cara Convery, account executive; Dan McMillen, assistant media planner; Kari Nicholas, assistant media planner; Sunny Resienauer, assistant media planner; Kerri Newell, account coordinator; Taleah Mona-Lusky, account coordinator; Julie Pepper, broadcast traffic coordinator; and Christina Underwood, broadcast coordinator. Promotions in the advertising department are Joanie Dombrowski, account supervisor; Kevin Skillestad, broadcast negotiator; Stacy Gilchrist, assistant account executive; Noah Anderson, assistant account executive; and Shanna Colombelli-Silva, assistant producer. New hires in human resources, office services and executive administration are Susan Colwell, executive assistant to chairman/CEO; Alli Borgia, administrative assistant; Stacey Morigeau, receptionist; Shannon Lucas, receptionist; and Erik Vordahl, mailroom assistant. Barbara Ivancich was promoted to manager of accounting services.

Tacoma Water

Ken Merry, superintendent of Tacoma Water has been appointed to a three-year term on the National Drinking Water Advisory Council by the Environmental Protection Agency. The 15-member council advises the EPA on safe drinking water issues. Tacoma Water was also recognized for its participation in a water quality research study that received the 1999 Grand Award from the American Consulting Engineers Council.
