Northwest Hospital announced the addition of Christain Peterson to the hospital staff as a physician specializing in orthopedics. Peterson's practice is located at The Sports Medicine Clinic in Ballard. His orthopedic sports medicine practice includes an emphasis on arthroscopy and spine care. Northwest Hospital is a not-for-profit hospital located in North Seattle.
Williams Kastner & Gibbs, a Seattle-based law firm, announced that Sharwain Smith has joined the firm as library manager. Smith has extensive experience in legal and non-legal reference services including online search capabilities, information management strategies and the administration of diverse multi-media venues.
Mainstar Software in Bellevue has promoted Doug Bryan to sales and marketing vice president. Responsible for the company's domestic and international sales and marketing, Bryan will manage the sales team and oversee production of the company's expanded Web site and marketing materials.
Seattle-Northwest Securities announced that it has opened a new office in Salt Lake City, Utah. The office will at the outset include six professionals who are former employees of Zions National Bank. Seattle-Northwest is a Seattle-based underwriter of municipal bonds and is a market marker in taxable and tax-exempt fixed income securities.
Oregon women executives can be a part of the growing number of women golfers by participating in the First Annual Astra Society International 18 hole Charity Golf Scramble, “Fore Women”, July 24th at Langdon Farms, Aurora, Ore., presented by Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt in conjunction with the Portland Oregon Sports Authority and the Executive Women’s Golf Association. LPGA Carli Mills and Executive Women’s Golf Association President, Pat Miller will present tips on business golf etiquette during the Awards Luncheon which follows the Scramble. Proceeds will support Astra Society’s programs of education and mentoring to Oregon’s women executives. A portion of the proceeds will go to support Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Capital Stream, a Seattle-based provider of e-commerce services for the commercial finance industry, announced that TextronFinancial Corp., a diversified commercial finance company with over $7 billion in managed receivables, is using CapitalStream.com to make its commercial finance services available through the Internet. Textron Financial's objective is to move the majority of its customers' requests for equipment financing seamlessly through CapitalStream.com as an extension of its loan and lease processing systems. In addition to improving Textron Financial's credit screening process, CapitalStream's services will help the company link Textron Financial's proprietary account management system with its back-office accounting systems

Microserv Technology Services, a national computer hardware support services company, has opened a new operations facility in Tukwila's Glacier Business Park on July 1. The newly built, 28,000 square foot building will be the new home of Microserv's distribution, warehouse and repair center. The company's current distribution, warehouse and repair center in Kirkland and Kent will be moved to the new building. The company will continue to base its headquarters in Kirkland.
Interwest Bancorp, a Pacific Northwest commercial bank holding company, announced that Bette Floray has been appointed to the position of executive vice president and chief financial officer. Floray will be responsible for the direction and reporting of all financial and accounting activities and functions of the Bancorp.
Online outdoor and travel lifestyle retailer Altrec.com announced the appointment of it first president, John Wyatt, who previously held executive posts at global retailers Starbucks, Nike and Eddie Bauer. Wyatt is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the company, providing strategic guidance and support to Altrec.com CEO Mike Morford, and directing the company's line managers. Altrec.com is a privately held company based in Bellevue.
PRO-West, a Seattle-based multi-service leader in the health care quality improvement industry, selected Jonathan Sugarman to be president and CEO. Sugarman oversees the company's expanding range of services and activities — which include health care evaluation, quality assessment, utilization management, case management and external review of health plan decisions. He succeeds 14-year CEO John Daise.
PROdX, a Portland, Ore.-based information technology project and consulting firm, has appointed Mark Simon as regional director of its Washington operation. Simon will be based in the company's Seattle office. He brings more than 15 years of experience in executive management to his new position, the last 12 of them working for leading technology companies in the Seattle area.
Bellevue-based general contractor Foushee & Associates has promoted three of its employees. Teddy Shiferaw and John Dolence have been promoted to project engineers and Rich Angehrn has been promoted to project manager of the Tenant Improvement department. Shiferaw graduated from the Building Engineering college of Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia. Dolence graduated from the University of Washington and holds a certificate from the Construction Management program. Angehrn graduated from Central Washington University's Construction Management program.
The Mechanical Contractors Association of Western Washington has awarded $1,000 scholarships to two students -- senior James Slater and junior Rick Wiseman -- in the University of Washington's Construction Management program. Slater is currently serving an internship with MCA member McKinstry Co. Wiseman was an apprentice in the mechanical industry, and has worked as a pipefitter for MCA member companies J.H. Kelly and McKinstry Co. He is a summer intern with MCA member W.A. Botting Co. Criteria for the scholarships includes exposure to the mechanical contracting industry through internships or employment, maintaining high academic standards, and being an active member in the UW MCA Student Chapter.
The Cedar Shake & Shingle Bureau has announced Darlene Jacuk has left the organization as its manager. John Dziedzic, of Teal Cedar Products and former chairman of the Cedar Bureau, will serve as interim manager while the search for a replacement is conducted. The bureau is based in Mission, British Columbia.
Greg Krape has been promoted to vice president and partner of Mulvanny G2 Architects, a Bellevue-based design firm.
He has been with the firm for one year. Prior to joining Mulvanny G2, Krape was a sole practitioner. During his 23-year career, he has designed more than one million square feet of commercial office buildings, including the Willows Creek Corporate Center in Redmond and Cedar Court in Bellevue.
His current projects include the Lakeridge Square office complex and the Daytona Building, both of which are in Redmond.
Jeani Natwick has been named an associate of the Northwest Architectural Company. She is director of interior design for the firm's Spokane office. Her recently completed projects include Liberty Lake Elementary School and Mount Spokane High School. Her current projects include the Mead High School modernization and the Clark High School renovation and addition.
Keith Comes has been named a principal architect of the firm. He joined in 1992 and was employed in California prior to coming to Spokane. His current work includes Saint George's Upper School in Spokane, Washington State University's Animal Disease Biotechnology Facility and the Hamilton-Lowe Aquatics Center in Moscow, Idaho.
Northwest Architectural Company has offices in Seattle, Spokane and Coeur d'Alene.
Karen Zollman has joined the north office of URS Corp. in Seattle as the manager of Geographic Information Systems. She is managing the GIS staff who work on environmental and engineering projects for municipal, county and federal clients. Currently, she is providing GIS services to Mason and Stevens counties and the U.S. Navy.
