Pacific Northwest Bank, a Seattle-based commercial and consumer banking company, has announced the promotion of Karen Booth to senior vice president of the customer services division. Booth will be responsible for the management, direction, administration and production for the bank's customer service department, operations services department, Bankcard services, cash management services and online banking.
The Everett Area Chamber of Commerce announced that Carol Bradford has been hired as the organization's vice president. Bradford is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Chamber, including staff supervision and budget oversight. Prior to joining the Chamber, she served as the manager of the Bellevue campus of the University of Phoenix.
The King County Department of Transportation is now recruiting citizens to serve on two advisory groups, the Transit Advisory Committee and the Accessible Services Advisory Committee, charged with helping the county improve transit services. President Clinton named Western Washington University chemistry professor David Patrick as one of 59 recipients nationwide of the 2000 Presidential Early Career Award for Scientist and Engineers. The award is the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. government on outstanding scientists and engineers who are in the early stages of establishing their independent research careers. Patrick received the award for creative research using liquid crystals to control the way molecules assemble on surfaces, and for his commitment to education.

Vicki Smollen has joined the commercial insurance division of Kibble & Prentice, a Seattle-based financial services firm. Smollen joins the firm as an account executive.
Stephanie Cutting has been appointed multiwall products specialist on Longview Fibre Co.'s paper-sales staff. Cutting will be involved in multiwall-bag paper sales, developing market information and promotional material for the company's sales program and participating in multiwall-products trade shows and other industry meetings.
Mark Ridner, Lane Powell Spears Lubersky partner-in-charge, Anchorage, has been appointed Superior Court Judge in Anchorage. Ridner will assume his position in January 2001. His association with Lane Powell will end as of Dec. 31. His practice at the firm has involved representing clients in litigation involving substantial claims for damages. The Alaska Bar Association awarded him its annual award for pro bono service contributions in 1998 and its award for distinguished service in 2000.
RealNetworks, a Seattle-based provider of streaming video on the Internet, announced that Richard Wolpert will be joining the company's executive team as strategic adviser, focusing on a range of emerging technologies. Wolpert, who formerly served as president of Disney Online, has more than 15 years of experience in the technology arena and has created and led several Internet and entertainment companies. He will work in several areas, including digital music distribution and wireless multimedia delivery.
Linda Moran has joined Washington Hills Cellars, the Kirkland-based producers of Apex, Bridgman and Washington Hills wines, as sales manager for on-premise sales. Moran will work with wine wholesalers in developing and presenting special programs and promotions for restaurant customers.
