Mulvanny Architects has promoted Justin Hill to vice president/officer. In his new position, Hill will be more involved with overall management and leadership of the Costco account.
For the last two years, Hill has served as a principal at Mulvanny Architects. He joined Mulvanny in January of 1991 as an architectural technician. In 1997 he was promoted to associate and became a principal in 1999. He is a licensed architect in the state of Washington and graduated from the University of Washington in 1990.
Bouillon, Inc. announced the promotion of Jim Sokol to vice president. Sokol is a project manager/mechanical engineer with 20 years of experience. He joined Bouillon three years ago and has led mechanical systems design on projects for Swedish Medical Center, Winstar and Hedreen LLC. He is currently working on the Tacoma General Hospital expansion and remodel.
The Berger Partnership recently promoted Meredith English from administrative staff member to associate. English has been with the firm for three years and is responsible for office policies, administrative management and day-to-day office management.
Jeff Wright has joined MCA Architects of Portland as an intern architect. He received his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Idaho. He is currently working on communications facilities throughout Oregon and southwest Washington for Qwest and other commercial projects.
Lynda Leask Lauterbach has joined MCA Architects as a project architect. She maintains an expertise in governmental, educational and medical projects. Currently, she is the project architect for construction administration on United Airlines' 189,656-square-foot air cargo facility at Los Angeles International Airport.
Dustin Posner has joined MCA Architects as a project architect. He is licensed in Oregon and a maintains an expertise in historic restoration, housing and civic/cultural facilities. His past projects include the restoration of the Governor Hotel located in downtown Portland. Currently, Posner is a project architect for LSG/Sky Chefs projects throughout the United States.
LMN Architects recently promoted Jennifer Hing to associate. Hing's involvement in the Seattle Children's Theatre Technical Pavilion included leadership positions as the project architect and working on construction administration. She is project architect on the renovation and expansion of Lakeside School's Ackerley Athletic Center. Kirk Hostetter was promoted to associate. His expertise is in convention centers, cultural facilities and educational buildings. His latest responsibility is project architect for the Wildwood Convention Center, under construction in Wildwood, N.J.
Jones & Jones announced the following three promotions: Maren Coleman, senior associate; Nancy Rottle, senior associate; and Jieuny Reinertson, comptroller.
Coleman has experience in coordination and management of a range of projects and has received acclaim for graphic and verbal presentations.
A landscape architect, Rottle has managed nature and culture-based projects at Jones & Jones for the last 10 years. She has specialized in the design of educational and park facilities, interpretation planning and design, cultural landscape preservation and ecological restoration.
Reinertson has been with the company for the past five years as an accounting manager. She received a BA degree in accounting with honor from Concordia University in Irvine, Calif.
C3 Management Group (C3MG) announced Steve Ahrens Jr. has been selected to join the cost estimating team and help expand the firm's capacity and capabilities. Ahrens' credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Building Construction from the University of Washington. He joins the cost engineers at the main office located in Kirkland.
Freiheit & Ho Architects, P.S., recently promoted Jamie Ho to a position as an associate. Ho is currently the project manager for the Kirkland Office Building and the 24 Hour Fitness Health Club account, which has her working on projects in Seattle, Lynnwood and Bellevue. Her photo was misidentified in last week's edition of the DJC.
Ben Hartley has joined the Museum of Glass in Tacoma for two years as director of the international capital campaign, starting Feb. 26. He will work with museum co-chair George Russell and director Josi Callan in the final phase of the campaign for the new building, set to open in 2002. Hartley was director of corporate communications and sponsorship at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York and has been involved with developing the global strategy for the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.
The Washington Appellate Lawyers Association has been formed with 30 Washington state appellate practitioners. Membership is limited to lawyers with at least 10 years experience who have been lead consul in at least 25 appeals. Initial officers are Catherine Smith , president; Michael King, first vice president; Phil Buri, second vice president; Bill Collins , secretary; and Jim Lobsenz, treasurer. The group's plans include providing a liaison to the Ninth Circuit and state appellate courts as well as putting on seminars and other educational events.
Charter Bank has opened a new Kent business local production office with Senior Vice President and Team Leader Bret Gagliardi heading the new office. He was with Columbia Bank as senior vice president. The bank is located in a temporary location downtown and will move into a permanent home in September. Jennifer Stowe, relationship manager, will help staff the office. Winnie Yuen office manager/personal banker, will transfer from the Bellevue branch to Kent. This is the third Charter location to open in the last three years.
The Mayor's Office is seeking candidates for appointment to the Seattle Human Rights Commission. Members are appointed for two-year terms and must be confirmed by the Seattle City Council. The 15-member commission is particularly interested in applicants with backgrounds in public policy, business and contracting through WMBE programs. The King County Park System is seeking proposals from individuals and organizations interested in providing concession services in public parks. Proposals are due by March 9. The county has a list of preferred locations but proposals will be accepted for any county park facility. King County takes a share of concession revenues to help support maintenance and programs. Jason McDaniel has been appointed customer service manager at HCI Steel Building Systems in Arlington. His new duties include scheduling of manufacturing operations. He joined the company in 1990 and most recently served as chief draftsman. The role of chief draftsman has been taken over by Stacey Gunn. His duties include acting as a liaison with the company's engineering department on the ongoing development of its MBS system. Gunn joined the firm in 1989. HCI is a certified manufacturer of pre-engineered metal buildings.
The Nielsen-Wurster Group, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, has promoted Patricia D. Galloway from president to chief executive officer. She replaces Kris Nielsen, who will continue to serve as chairman of the board. Galloway holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Purdue University and is listed as one of school's Distinguished Engineering Alumni. She also is a certified project management professional and holds professional engineering licenses in 11 states. The company also announced that Jack Dignum -- Western regional manager for the Seattle and Carlsbad, Calif., offices -- has been elected as a vice president and appointed as corporate manager of the Management Consulting Division. The Nielsen-Wurster Group specializes in construction dispute resolution, management consulting and risk management. The company claims it was the first U.S. firm to develop the Window Analysis technique -- which has been effectively used since 1976 in legal environments for analyzing delays and addressing delay concurrency on construction projects around the world.
Pacific Coast Building Products has entered into a partnership with Klamath Investors to purchase the operating assets and inventory of the former Supply One locations in Grants Pass and Klamath Falls, Ore. The new entity will operate as Diamond Home Improvement. Tim Steiner will oversee the stores, which are suppliers of building materials including wallboard, lumber, masonry products and other home improvement items. Both locations will serve the homeowner as well as the general contractor, subcontractor and remodeling contractor markets. Full delivery services are offered for all of the 30,000 items that the stores will have available. Diamond has been open since December 2000 and will celebrate its grand opening in mid-March.
