Gordon, Thomas

Tacoma law firm Gordon, Thomas, Honeywell, Malanca, Peterson & Daheim has named Joan Foley, Timothy Ashcraft, Julie Dickens and T. Lee Humphreys as members. Foley joined the firm in 1995 and emphasizes her practice in environmental, complex and general litigation. Ashcraft concentrates his practice on complex, insurance and commercial litigation. Dickens focuses on estates and trusts, real estate and general business. Humphreys focuses his practice on international business transactions, federal taxation and executive compensation.

Furst Group

Furst Group, a search firm specializing in executive health care searches, announced that it has opened an office in Seattle. The new location is at 601 Union St. Furst has other offices located in the Chicago, Minneapolis, Dallas and Washington, D.C. areas. The firm conducts search work with integrated delivery systems, group practices, insurance companies and managed care organizations, along with cost containment service companies.

The KMC Group

The KMC Group, a Bellevue-based technology public relations firm, expanded its management team with the addition of Cary Goldberg as director. Bringing more than 15 years of public relations and marketing experience to firm, Goldberg will be responsible for account management and business development. Most recently, she was an account manager at Waggener Edstrom.

Built-e

Built-e, a Seattle-based resource for sustainable building materials, announced that Jim Quinn has joined its advisory board. Quinn, the former CEO of Collins Pine, brings to the board more than 35 years experience in the forest products industry as well as a dedication to sustainable building. He was named Timber Processing magazine's Man Of The Year in 1998.

CollinsWoerman

CollinsWoerman announced the addition of Gary Hochstrasser, Ken Pinkoski and Marcia Engstrom. Hochstrasser joins CollinsWoerman as senior project manager with more than 29 years of architectural experience. He has worked on projects at Fort Quintal, National Distributing, Key Bank, Einar Neilsen Fieldhouse and the University of Utah. As commercial project manager and team leader, Pinkoski is currently working on Delta Society Headquarters, a facility for training people to work with specially trained animals. Intern architect Engstrom joins CollinsWoermann with five years of experience, including residential remodels and additions. Engstrom is working on the Seattle Biomedical Research Institute.

Elcon

Elcon Associates announced the appointment of Ron Clark as project manager for Traction Electrification at its Portland office. Clark comes to Elcon Associates from Tri-Met where he served as traction electrification project engineer for eight years. Robert G. Jones joins the Portland office as senior electrical engineer. Some of his major projects include Tri-City Fire Station in Banks, Ore.; Les Schwab Distribution Center in Prineville, Ore.; and Lindfield College in McMinnville. Jones has been working on a number of projects including electrical upgrades for Oregon State Correctional Facility and various city of Portland pump stations. Steven A. Schmidt has joined the SeaTac office. As a senior electrical engineer he has experience with a wide variety of construction projects from commercial entertainment and convention centers to public works projects such as sewage treatment and tunnel lighting.

Harding ESE

Jack Pittis has been promoted as Harding ESE's office manager in its Bellevue and Portland offices. He will provide leadership for transportation, structural, construction management and environmental engineering departments. Pittis is former president of the American Public Works Association and the City Engineer's Association, and was recognized as a national Top 10 Public Works Leader of the Year in 1993.

Walker and Associates

Jim Schulz has been promoted from production coordinator to vice president and assistant division manager at Walker and Associates. Schulz will oversee contract administration and business development. David Brown has joined Walker as production manager. He has managed production offices in Colorado and Washington.

Cary Kopczynski

Cary Kopczynski & Co. has announced the addition of Ethan Clark and Ron Mirahsani, design engineers; and Ellen Schwede, CAD drafter. Clark is currently involved in Century Tower, a 33-story residential building; and a 22-story residential tower at Second and Lenora. Both projects are located in downtown Seattle. Mirahsani was involved in a wide variety of residential, mixed-use and office building projects with a previous firm including many in Bellevue and Seattle. He is working on the Blakely Condominiums in the University District; Juanita Village, a mixed-use project in Kirkland; and a 12-story condominium at First and Clay in Seattle. Schwede is working on The Vine Building, a 12-story residential building in Seattle. CKC provides structural engineering services for buildings and parking structures throughout the United States.

DLR Group

DLR Group has appointed mechanical engineer Douglas Holtan,CAD & IS manager Joel Goetz, registered architect Kay Zovanyi, architectural designer Erin Reichman and justice marketing specialist Lori Coppenrath to positions of associate. Lisa Johnson,registered architect, was promoted to senior associate.

Holtan is a mechanical engineer in DLR Group's education studio and has worked with a wide variety of clients since joining in 1999, including Boeing, Amazon.com, and the Seattle Public Schools. Zovanyi has most recently been working with LVMH, Verizon Wireless and Amazon.com. Goetz acts as systems manager, software trainer and on-site programmer for DLR Group's Portland and Seattle offices. With a background in criminology and psychology, Coppenrath works on facility planning and special studies for DLR Group's justice studio. She also serves as its marketing representative. Reichman is a designer in DLR Group's retail studio, currently managing projects for Eddie Bauer, American Eagle and LVMH. Johnson's work includes international Amazon.com facilities and Seattle and Longview school district projects, including award-winning Robert Gray Elementary School.

Olson Sundberg

Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen Architects announced the addition of Philip Beck, architectural designer. He is currently working on design of a private residence on Mercer Island. Kiron Cheema, office assistant, supports a number of design projects for the firm. Randy Everett, architect, is currently working on design of the Museum Tower at the Frye Art Museum. Richard Hu, architect, is currently designing a private residence in Bellevue. Kristi Larson, director of finance and administration, is a returning employee, having served as business manager for the firm from 1986-1993. Tracy Margel, architectural designer, is currently working on the Tacoma Art Museum. Tina Song, architect, is working on design of the Museum Tower at the Frye Art Museum. Tomomi Yashiro, interior designer, supports several interior design projects for the firm.

Berger/ABAM

Louis Klusmeyer recently joined Berger/ABAM Engineers in the Federal Way office. His background is on structural engineering for waterfront facilities, including terminal and building renovation; and inspection, renovation and new design and construction of piers, wharves, floating docks and terminals. Jilma Jiménez joined Berger/ABAM Engineers in the Federal Way office. Her areas of expertise include roadway design, transportation systems design, drainage design, construction management and environmental review. Anna Hamilton recently joined as a CAD operator in the firm’s Federal Way office. Hamilton has more than 20 years of manual and computer-aided drafting and design experience.
