Leonard
Mark Leonard, general manager of KYVE/Yakima, has been appointed chief administrative officer of KCTS/Seattle Public Television. Leonard has served the position in an interim capacity since October 2000. His responsibilities include directing work groups and subsidiaries, helping to shape corporate strategy and leading the transition to digital content provider and broadcaster.

R Group Communications

R Group Communications, a Vancouver, B.C.-based marketing firm specializing in real estate projects, announced the appointment of Lynn Harrison to the position of account manager. Harrison was assistant marketing manager and director of merchandising for ParkLane Homes prior to joining R Group.

Seattle Goodwill

Seattle Goodwill announced the promotions of Janetta Nartey to vice president of education and workforce development programs, JoAnn Moran-Kyle to vice president of human resources and Billy Colburn to director of the adult basic education program.

Genelex

Genelex Corp., a Redmond-based provider of genetic analysis services to academic and industrial researchers, announced the appointment of Dr. Susan Sunkin to head the genomic services department. Before joining Genelex, she was a postdoctoral fellow at the Seattle Biomedical Research Institute and the University of Washington Department of Pathobiology.

Cinnabon

Cinnabon has moved into the South Korean market, signing a development agreement for 50 Cinnabon bakeries there over the next six years. The first bakery opened in Seoul on April 17. Cinnabon's new franchise partner, YBM FNB, is a diversified media company that was founded in 1961 by Y.B. Min. YBM is the largest publisher of English language media, video, audio and print in Korea. Founded in Seattle, Cinnabon is a subsidiary of Atlanta-based AFC Enterprises.

Donation Depot

Donation Depot, a Tacoma-based company that helps nonprofits, donors and corporations use technology as a fundraising tool, recently added two executives to its management team. Michael Jensen is managing the company's sales division, and will concentrate on the sale and marketing of Donation Depot's Web application products. Stephanie Tuck, formerly with the Seattle Supersonics, is now the company's vice president of operations

Open Telecommunications

Open Telecommunications, a Seattle-based provider of software solutions, announced the appointment of Colin Chandler as CEO. A 20-year veteran of the telecommunications industry, Chandler was chief operating officer for the company. Prior to Open Telecommunications, he was a founding member of Moreton Bay, a Linux-based communications software company recently acquired by Lineo.

Perkins Coie

Perkins Coie and Gores & Blais announced that the employees of Gores & Blais have joined Perkins Coie. The six lawyers from Gores & Blais will be physically relocating to Perkins' space in the Washington Mutual Tower in Seattle, where Perkins is completing the build-out of several additional floors of space. Joining Perkins Coie will be Tom Gores as partner and associates Jennifer Forsch, Jay Janousek, Christy Newman, Kanoa Ostrem and Juliana Whelan.

Infowave Software

Infowave Software, a Bothell-baed provider of wireless business solutions, announced the appointment of Jeff Feinstein as senior vice president of sales. Feinstein brings more than 15 years of sales and sales management experience to his new position. He joined Infowave from DataChannel, a provider of XML/WML-based enterprise information portal software, where he most recently served as vice president, worldwide sales.

Seattle's Best Coffee

Seattle's Best Coffee opened its newest cafe in the Seaboard Building, at Fourth Avenue and Pine Street. The cafe will include new menu items, including Cinnabon cinnamon rolls and Smashers, sandwiches grilled to order and "smashed" in a proprietary grill. The new menu was created by Stefany Dybeck, SBC's director of product development, and consultant Kathy Casey of Kathy Casey Food Studios.

Saint Martin's College

Dalia Hagan, director of the O'Grady Library, has been elected president of the Saint Martin's College faculty for 2001-2002 and will also serve as president of the faculty senate. Hagan has been the library director at Saint Martin's since her arrival from the Tacoma Public Library 13 years ago.

AvalonBay Communities

Michael Lyons was promoted to development director in AvalonBay Communities' Seattle-area office. Lyons, 54, joined the apartment real estate investment trust in 1998 as development manager and was instrumental in the development of Avalon Bellevue, Avalon Belltown and planning of Avalon Madison in Seattle's First Hill area. "Under Lyons' guidance, Avalon Madison received unanimous design review approval from the Seattle Design Review Board at its first official presentation, an accomplishment unprecedented in the Seattle area," according to an AvalonBay press release.

What to do with 6,000 volunteers

Windermere Real Estate has 6,000 people ready to spend June 15 doing volunteer work. They just need ideas for what to work on.

In each of the past 17 years, Windermere's agents and staff have taken a day off, calling it Community Service Day, to give back to the community by providing local volunteer work. Last year, members of the firm's 215 offices worked on 125 projects such as parks, public trails, boys and girls clubs, child care centers, homeless shelters, schools and low-income housing.

Windermere recently sent out a request for suggestions for projects to work on this year. Those with ideas may send them to the manager of the nearest Windermere office.

Also at Windermere, John Asfour joined the West Seattle office as a sales agent. Asfour previously worked as a service station owner.

Prudential Jack White Real Estate

Jeff Thon became an associate broker in commercial sales and leasing for Prudential Jack White Real Estate in Anchorage. Thon moved from Minnesota to Alaska in 1979 and his route from there to Jack White went through positions at Carr Gottstein Properties, Bank of the North, HRT Real Estate and Pacific Tower Properties.
