Safeco Insurance recently announced promotions in several areas of its Seattle-based offices. Michael Hughes and Michael-Ann McAboy were named vice presidents, and Greg Card and Tim Hokari were named assistant vice presidents of the company's Asset Management Co. Scott Murphy was named assistant controller of the company's Mutual Funds and Safeco Securities. Philip Winkel was named vice president of the company's life insurance companies. Safeco Property & Casualty companies announced that Mark Gregory was named assistant vice president and Jody Pucel assistant general counsel for its insurance company. Karen Queen was named assistant vice president and actuary for the American States insurance companies.
RealNetworks, a Seattle-based Internet media delivery company, announced that Carla Stratfold has joined the company as senior vice president of North American sales. Stratfold oversees field sales initiatives of the media systems and media publishing divisions. She brings more than 15 years of high-tech industry experience to the company.
On-Site MassageWorks has opened a new location in the Overlake Medical Tower attached to Overlake Hospital in Bellevue. Located on the ground floor, On-Site MassageWorks will offer 15 and 30-minute massages to hospital employees, visitors and the public.
Glacier Northwest has hired Neil Guptill as manager of the Technical Services and Quality Assurance Department for the Washington Division. Guptill has over 28 years of industry experience, spending the past 13 years as technical services manager for Hawaiian Cement in Honolulu. He has also worked for Riedel International in Portland and the Oregon Department of Transportation. While in Hawaii, Guptill served as president of the Cement and Concrete Products Institute and president of the Engineers and Architects Association of Hawaii.
John Bloomquist has joined Jorve Corp. as a project manager. In that role, Bloomquist is responsible for estimating and managing residential re-roofing projects. He has seven years of experience as a sales manager and holds a bachelor's degree in communications from Central Washington University. Jorve specializes in a full range of exterior services, including roofing, windows, siding, doors and masonry.

Preston Gates & Ellis, a Seattle-based law firm, announced that fourth-year associate Kristi Helgeson was named Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year by the King County Bar Association. Helgeson teaches young women about leadership and the legal system through the American Legion Auxiliary Girls State Program, and is a volunteer legal counsel to the Northwest Women’s Law Center. She volunteered for the ABA Death Penalty Representation Project, devoting more than 400 hours on a pro bono basis to representing a young man on Alabama’s death row. As an associate at Preston Gates, she provides counsel to clients regarding intellectual property issues.
