Hunter Cole and Barry Savage have been named account executives for Resource Management Inc. in the Seattle office. The firm helps small and medium-sized businesses outsource their human resource needs such as benefits administration, payroll and worker's compensation. Cole is a lawyer and has 18 years experience in business management. Savage is a former business owner and has 15 years experience in human resource issues.
Cathy Keener has been appointed branch manager at Sterling Savings Bank's Bellevue branch. She was formerly a personal banker for US Bank and has 30 years experience in the financial industry.
Eric Corning has joined Interknack Corp. in Bellevue as a project manager. The company is an XML software development firm with a new office in San Jose, Calif., helping clients to maximize their return on Internet investments. Corning was formerly director of operations for the Seafair hydroplane races and air show. Interknack developed the Seafair Web site.
Avista Corp.'s board of directors has elected Gary G. Ely as chairman of the board. Ely retains his titles of president and chief executive officer of Avista and succeeds Larry A. Stanley as board chairman. Stanley retires after having served on the Avista board since 1991. The Spokane-based company is involved in energy, information and technology.
Dan and Nancy Evans will receive the 2001 E. Donnall Thomas Medal of Achievement Award of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center on June 16. The award is given to regional business leaders who support the Hutch's mission to eliminate cancer and related diseases. Dan Evans was governor for three terms beginning in 1965, was president of The Evergreen State College and served as U.S. senator until 1989. As Washington's first lady, Nancy formed the Governor's Mansion Foundation. She also served on numerous boards.
Paul Argast has been promoted to regional vice president of RAS Builders Northwest. Argast will oversee the Seattle and Portland offices and continue developing the Northwest Region of Washington, Oregon and Idaho. He has 28 years of experience in shell and core, high-end retail, hospitality and institutional renovation.
Roy Jensen has taken over all estimating responsibilities at SGA Corp. Jensen has been a project manager at the company for the past six years and has over 23 years of experience in the construction industry -- much of it in the heavy commercial and medical office sectors. He holds a bachelor's degree in building construction from the University of Washington.
AMEC Earth & Environmental's Kirkland office is expanding its construction-support services to include non-destructive examination and has hired Greg Schroeter as NDE services manager. NDE services range from the inspection of steel welds to the examination of spray-applied fireproofing. Schroeter brings more than 13 years of NDE experience to AMEC. Schroeter previously worked for Pacific Testing Laboratories and is a specialist in ultrasonic testing of groove welds in the core structure of buildings. He also is qualified to perform ultrasonic, magnetic-particle and liquid-penetrant tests.
Eric Nolander of Hoffman Construction Co. has been honored by Engineering News-Record as a "Top 25 Newsmaker." Nolander was cited for his role in helping bring the cutting-edge architecture of the Experience Music Project into reality. Nolander used 3-D computer modeling to help subcontractors understand the unique forms and materials of the building, taking the "fear-factor" out of their bids. Nolander, who holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Oregon State University, has been with Hoffman since 1990.
