Port of Tacoma

Paul Chilcote, senior director of planning and director of the intermodal transportation line of business at the Port of Tacoma, won the 2001 Puget Sound Maritime Achievement Award for his efforts to improve freight mobility. Chilcote has been active in numerous business and professional organizations including the Washington Public Ports Association and the American Association of Port Authorities.

Sierra On-Line

Sierra On-Line, a Bellevue-based developer and publisher of interactive entertainment and productivity software, announced that Thomas Hernquist has joined the company as president and CEO and Michael Ryder has joined as chief operating officer and senior vice president of product development. Hernquist was senior vice president of marketing at Nadisco. Ryder most recently was the CEO of Soco Corp., a software development company.

Avolo

Avolo, a Seattle-based facilitator of Internet-based sales, asset management and procurement services for the aerospace industry, named Warren Meyer president and chief operating officer. Meyer was vice president for marketing and e-business for the former AlliedSignal Co., now Honeywell.

Labor Ready

Labor Ready, a Tacoma-based provider of temporary manual labor, announced that Todd Welstad, chief information officer, will be leaving the company to pursue other opportunities. Welstad has been with the company since January of 1993.

TVW

Dennis Heck, founder and president of TVW, won the Pathfinder Award from the Washington Research Council. The award was established to recognize individuals who have instituted programs that improve state government. TVW is Washington state's public affairs television, the first such state network. It has opened the doors of government to millions of citizens

Mahlum

Mahlum Architects has named four principals to its senior management team. The Seattle-based principals are William Strong and Robert Lober, and the Portland principals are Gregg Stewart and Mathieu Jacobs.

Strong has been marketing director since 1988, and a senior associate since 1996. He oversees the firm's strategic planning and marketing and public relations activities, including business development. Lober was project designer for the addition to the radiation oncology at Evergreen Healthcare in Kirkland, and is working on a master plan update for the medical center. He is also involved in a master plan for the Northwest School in Seattle and in programming, planning and design for the Muckelshoot Indian Childcare Facility in Kent.

Stewart was most recently responsible for the development of two schools for the Hillsboro School District. He also worked on the renovation of a historic building for Dr. Marten's AirWair, which won a Best of Show award in the 1998 design competition sponsored by the Portland chapter of the International Interior Design Association. Jacobs is known for his experience in master planning and conceptual design of multiple-building projects. He is working on an addition to the Holy Rosary Medical Center in Ontario, Ore. Other projects include master planning for the Bend Memorial Clinic, renovation of the ortho trauma patient care unit at Oregon Health Sciences University Hospital in Portland and the addition for the Portland Clinic.

Triad

Triad Associates, land development consultants, announces the following new hires. Rebecca Cushman has joined as an engineer. She brings five years of experience at King County's Department of Development and Environmental Services to Triad. Cushman will work with Triad's project managers to design site solutions for clients and expedite projects through the permit process. Vance Blue recently became certified as a professional land surveyor. Blue is working on the new Sea-Tac Air Traffic Control Tower and the Center Point Corporate Park. Joining the engineering department as an AutoCad Technician is Flavio Bainotti.

CDi Engineers

Jeanie Iida has joined CDi Engineers as a mechanical engineer and project manager. Iida is working on the renovation of Seattle Center’s Marion Oliver McCaw Hall (Opera House), new exterior water features for North Seattle Community College the new Seattle Justice Center and the new White Pine Lodge condominium and retail community at Schweitzer Ski Area in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Nakea Allerdice has joined CDi’s CADD department. She is currently working on the new Anacortes Public Library, several renovation projects at Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center, the new Olympic College Plant Services Building in Bremerton and the new Seattle Justice Center.

Randy Koetje has joined CDi Engineers as a mechanical engineer and project manager. He has 17 years of experience specializing in HVAC, plumbing, piping, specialty fuel piping, testing, adjusting and balancing. Koetje is a member of CDi’s Seattle-Tacoma International Airport project team.

In firm administration, Debbie Anderson has joined CDi in the position of receptionist and administrative assistant.

Shockey Brent

Shockey Brent recently promoted Amy Mattson from planner to senior planner. Mattson has extensive background in project management, feasibility studies, land title research, survey information and auto CAD.

Reid Middleton

Reid Middleton recently announced the promotion of Wendell Johnson to director of development services. Johnson will guide the company's services involved in continuous site development -- or the process of developing land through master planning to civil and structural engineering and construction administration. He will work with private and public sector clients interested in master planning, surveying, design and construction administration of tracts of commercial and industrial land.

SCS Engineers

SCS Engineers recently promoted Greg Helland to vice president. Helland has managed several large remedial investigations, monitoring projects, hazardous waste characterizations and site ecological risk assessments. He is the environmental services director for SCS Engineers Pacific Northwest operations and serves clients in real estate, mining and solid waste industries.

SCS has also added Mark Varljen and Elaine Dilley to its environmental services group. Varljen has expertise in groundwater sampling methodologies and statistical analysis, information systems for decision support in site remedial design, groundwater modeling and wellhead protection area dileniation. Dilley will work closely with the environmental services division in conducting environmental assessments and monitoring projects. Hayley Stradley has been hired as the administrative assistant/receptionist. Stradley will be assisting the environmental services and solid waste engineering staff with customer service projects
