MPM Technologies, a Spokane-based holding company with two operating subsidiaries which design, build, install and service industrial air pollution control systems, announced the formation of MPM Project Solutions to provide clients with project management, facility operations and maintenance, staffing support, consulting and technology services. Robert Treistman, formerly vice president of operations of MPM, has been appointed as chief operating officer. Treistman's responsibilities include overseeing the execution of contracts among all MPM operating subsidiaries.
N2H2, a Seattle-based Internet access management company, announced that enterprise service industry veteran Philip Welt is the company's new CEO and president. Welt will be focused on guiding the company's growth and global expansion. He was director of worldwide sales for Softimage, a Microsoft subsidiary and managed a sales staff of more than 100 people.
Priscilla Terry, president of the Connections Consortium — an affiliation of Washington's workforce development system in Thurston County, announced a contract with Deborah Haskett of Pacific Management & Accounting to administer the organization's Web site ConnectQuest.org and to grow the database of business contacts willing to work with students and teachers on various projects. Haskett has been active in the Lacey community, serving as the first chair of the Lacey Chamber Home Base Committee in 1996 and as vice president of the Lacey Chamber in 1997.
Eric Peterson and Bill DeGroot have joined Opus Northwest, the local operating entity of the Opus Group of Companies of Minneapolis. Peterson is a project manager. He has 13 years of experience and is currently working on several projects in Oregon, including Cornell West, Columbia Gorge Corporate Center and new Beginnings Christian Center. DeGroot is a superintendent. He has over 23 years of experience, overseeing multi-faceted tenant improvements. He is working on Opus TI jobs in the greater Seattle area.

Encompass Ventures Management has added Rob Jacobs as a new associate in its Bellevue office. Jacobs will assist companies in evaluating international market opportunities. He will also manage relationships with Asian investors. Prior to joining Encompass Ventures, he worked at EnCompass Group, where he assisted U.S. information technology companies.
Ten Seattle businesses were named 2001 Small Businesses of the Year at the 18th Mayor's Small Business Awards. The winners are: Scott Barron of Botanical Designs; Lisa Cooper and Jerry Cohen of Ebbets Field Flannels; Rosamaria Rosales and Samuel Martinez of Excelsior Travel Service; Steven Clark of Genesee Fuel and Heating Co.; Inez Sandberg of Habitude Salon and Gallery; Ernesto Rjos and family of Inay's Kitchen; Ciro and Kim Pasciuto of La Panzanella; Ruvane Richman of Market Optical; Eric Vennes of NW Legal Support; and Tom Weingarten of Western Foil Corp.
Seattle Public Schools appointed Stephen Nielsen as director of logistics and Sharon Wilkins as director of high schools. Nielsen will direct district services and facilities, including safety and security, transportation, property management, purchasing, child nutrition services and publishing services. Wilkins will supervise the district's high school principals.
Seattle City Librarian Deborah Jacobs announced the art and literature collection in Seattle's new Central Library will be named the Peter F. Donnelly Art and Literature Collection. Donnelly is president of Corporate Council for the Arts/Arts Fund, a Northwest-based funding agency that benefits arts organizations in western Washington. The collection is one of five major collection areas planned in the new 355,000-square-foot library.
The District and Municipal Court Judges' Association elected officers to represent the more than 200 judges of Washington's courts of limited jurisdiction. The 2001 officers include: Judge Christopher Culp of Okanogan County District Court, president; Judge Dirk Marler of Yakima County District Court, president-elect; Judge Michael Roewe of Lewis County District Court, past-president; Judge Sara Derr of Spokane County District Court, vice president; and Judge Eileen Kato of King County District Court, treasurer.
Governor Gary Locke has appointed five to serve on the Washington State Arts Commission. The new commissioners are William Merriman of Yakima, Benjamin Moore of Seattle, Martha Nichols of Newport, Joan Penney of Mount Vernon and Barney Speight of Vancouver. The commission was established as a state agency in 1961 to support arts as essential to the state's social, educational and economic growth

Announcement of Woods’ new position was made by CMW President and Chairman of the Board Ed Malzahn at the company’s worldwide headquarters in Perry, Okla.
Malzahn said the board’s action is a change of title, and Woods will continue his current responsibilities.
“I am, of course, honored by the confidence the board has placed in me,” said Woods. “My responsibilities remain basically the same, working closely with Ed Malzahn and other members of our strategic management team to manage all divisions of the company and to direct the strategic planning necessary to ensure the company maintains its position as the industry leader.”
Woods joined CMW in 1980. In addition to serving as chief operating officer, he has held a variety of positions, including factory representative, merchandising and promotions manager, regional sales manager, director of sales service, director of distribution, and director of marketing.
