Garvey, Schubert & Barer

The Seattle law firm of Garvey, Schubert & Barer announced that Kerry Radcliffe has rejoined the firm as a principal, and Karen Bertram has been named a principal. Sevilla C.P. Claydon and Michael Brick have joined as associates. Radcliffe concentrates her practice on corporate law and commercial transactions. Bertram focuses on trusts and estates. Claydon practices primarily in labor and employment matters, and Brick focuses on corporate and international law.

RiverPlace Hotel

Dean Vacheresse has joined Portland's RiverPlace Hotel as director of food and beverage. Vacheresse will oversee all food and beverage operations, which includes the Esplande, the bar, private dining and seasonal outdoor riverfront dining.

Fleetfoot Messenger Service

Fleetfoot Messenger Service, a Seattle-based courier service, announced its return to a local owner after three years of being part of a national delivery company. The company's president Gary Brose, who owned the company for 17 years before selling it to DMS in 1998, repurchased it earlier this month. Brose started the company in 1980. The company will make its four millionth delivery this month.

Western Washington University

Bela Foltin will become university librarian at Western Washington University in July. Foltin is currently dean of the library and learning resources center at Northeastern State University in Oklahoma. In his new position, he will lead a staff of 65 full-time employees and 85 part-time student employees at the Bellingham university.

Heller Ehrman

Heller Ehrman White & McAuliffe announced the addition of Brian Hulse as a lateral shareholder in its Seattle law office. Hulse joins the firm's financial services national practice group. He brings extensive knowledge and experience in financial services, real estate and insolvency matters to his new position.

American Economic Development Council

The American Economic Development Council announced that Juli Wilkerson, director of economic development for the city of Tacoma, is the recipient of its 2001 Outstanding New Developer of the Year Award. Wilkerson was instrumental in streamlining the downtown code, helping retain key businesses in Tacoma and spearheading the "Tacoma: America's #1 Wired City" marketing campaign

Quadrant Corp.

William Boucher was promoted to assistant vice president of community marketing at Quadrant Corp., responsible for three planned communities: Redmond Ridge, Snoqualmie Ridge and Northwest Landing in Dupont. Weyerhaeuser Real Estate Co. is developer of each with its subsidiary, Quadrant, managing the development. Boucher, who joined Quadrant from American Express in 1999, was Redmond Ridge marketing director. Quadrant said Boucher put together the project's Homefinding Center, which received a design award from the National Association of Homebuilders, and put the project on the forefront of green building practices.

Coldwell Banker Bain

The latest round of hiring brought 20 new sales associates to nine of Coldwell Banker Bain Associates' 14 offices during April, including the residential and commercial agency's new Federal Way office. Shirlee Garratt joined the Bellevue East office. Angie Steele, Rick Johnson and Matt Cannady now work in Everett.

Debbie Darst went to the Duvall office. Lonnie Ezati and Clark Griffin now work in Kirkland. Nathan Solla went to Issaquah.

Lynnwood landed Bonnie Little, Glen McMaster, Gary Weeks and Jennifer DeLaney. Redmond now employes John Schumacher and Michael Daniels, while Seattle-Westlake added Art Furbush.

The new Federal Way office, in 55,000-square-foot building finished in March by Quadrant Corp., has enough space to grow to 98 agents and staff. Aaron Thomas, Jean Bonter, Veronica Port, Bill Lonergan and Cliff Massey joined that office.

Scripting the sales

David Scott will share tips on scripting presentations in selling residential real estate at a Keller Williams University event called "Scripts and Dialogues." The event, which Keller Williams describes as "graduate-level" course work, is scheduled for June 14 and 15 at the Holiday Inn Select in Renton. Scott is not only a "multi-million-dollar producer (and a) top profitability and productivity manager, (but also) a master presenter," Keller Williams said. "This is the first comprehensive 'scripting' course offered in the real estate industry. ... Attendees will learn marketing scripts for expired listings, farming, canvassing and getting leads from lenders. They will also learn agency representation scripts for explaining agency, commission and how to present a contract. Handling buyers' and sellers' objections is part of the curriculum." John L. Scott

Real Trends magazine named John L. Scott Real Estate President J. Lennox Scott as one of the nation's five most-admired people in residential real estate. The magazine cited Scott's push into use of the Web and quality performance.

Habitat for Humanity offers tours

Twelve Habitat for Humanity homes on a single block in the NewHolly Park development in Seattle's Rainier Valley will be open for prearranged tours on three days in June. As Habitat emphasized, "12 on one block!" "Meet some of the homeowners and their children," said a notice from the non-profit agency that coordinates volunteers to build houses for low-income owners. Tours of the homes at 6516 29th Ave. S. will go from: 3 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 2; 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13; and 4 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 30. To RSVP, call (206) 292-5240.
