Penhallegon

Paul Lymberis recently earned his professional engineering license. Lymberis, as senior project engineer, has been with Penhallegon Associates since 1996. Lymberis is currently working on The Summit, Issaquah Highlands, Maywood Hills Elementary School and King County Department of Natural Resources Drainage Studies.

Sparling

Sparling has promoted Michael B. Severns to principal. Severns will manage the firm’s two technology consulting studios. Severns joined Sparling in 2000 as its director of health care technology, leading the firm’s marketing and design efforts in this rapidly expanding field. Severns’ expertise includes telehealth and telemedicine applications, and he continues to be actively involved in both ASHE and the American Hospital Association.

McAndrews

Dakin Bell and Fred Harmon have joined the staff of the McAndrews Group, a Bellevue-based civil engineering and land surveying firm. Bell and Harmon are professional land surveyors and are serving as survey project managers for TMG.

CBG

CBG Consulting Engineers announced the following promotions: Doug Brown has been named associate principal. He has been a member of CBG since 1980. Karl Atteberry has been named senior associate. Atteberry has 12 years experience as a mechanical engineer and has been a member of CBG since 1995. Brad Megee has been named associate engineer. He has 10 years engineering experience and has been a member of CBG’s electrical department for nine years.

Phil Gioia has been named project engineer. His mechanical engineering design experience includes projects for health care and primary, secondary and higher education. Mark Dahlen has joined CBG’s mechanical team in Portland as project engineer. He brings seven years of experience designing technologically demanding mechanical systems for Silicon Forest firms including Intel, LSI Logic, TriQuint, Maxim, Fujitsu Microelectronics and WaferTech.

Bill Fink brings four years engineering experience to CBG’s mechanical department. He is currently working on projects for the Canby School District and for the Medford Headquarters Library. Mark Osterman joins as electrical and lighting designer. His lighting design experience includes preparing calculations for illumination levels, code compliance and energy conservation. John LaTourette has joined CBG’s mechanical team in Portland as staff engineer. Prior to joining CBG, his experience included working as an HVAC designer and air balancer for clean room design projects and other high-tech environments.

Dawne Herrick joins CBG as staff engineer. She has four years of mechanical engineering design experience. Jim La Placa and Joe Boss joined the CAD departments in Portland and Bellevue, and new administrative assistant, Joan Thompson to its Bellevue office.

Nakano

Nakano Associates announced that it has recently hired Gail Staeger as a senior associate. The firm also recently hired Nicole Alexander and Kyle Sasaki as associate landscape designers, and Karen Brown as administrative assistant. Gail Staeger has worked with multidisciplinary design teams throughout the Pacific Northwest, completing site designs for health care, educational, governmental and campus facilities. At Nakano Associates, Staeger's current projects include High Point Redevelopment, North Waterfront Access Project and South Tacoma Commuter Rail Station.

DLR

DLR Group recently added Tim Owen and Kelley Tanner. They will spearhead the marketing effort for the firm's education design studio. Owen's primary responsibilities are proposal and public relations writing. Tanner recently relocated to Seattle from Dallas. A graduate of Texas A & M's College of Architecture, Tanner was vice president at a small firm in Dallas for 10 years. She will draw from her background in architecture while working as a front-end business developer

Jerome W. Morrissette

Robert E. Tauscher has joined the firm of Jerome W. Morrissette & Associates Inc. Tauscher most recently worked at Thurston County with design/construction in the road, storm and surface water department, development review and traffic engineering. Tauscher has worked on numerous roadway and safety improvement projects and traffic/transportation engineering projects while employed at Thurston County. He has 25 years of engineering experience and knowledge and is currently working on a variety of projects, including work for Simpson Timber Company, Gee Cee’s Truck Stop, the city of Castle Rock and Ayock Beach

Franciscan Health System

Jean Vaughan is this year's recipient of the St. Francis Humanitarian of the Year Award presented by the Franciscan Health System. Vaughan is director of the Federal Way School District's English as a Second Language program. The award is given to those whose work shows extraordinary commitment in areas such as peacemaking, service to the poor, diversity and humility.

Asia-Europe-Americas Bank

Lisa DuClos has been promoted to vice president, operations manager at Asia-Europe-Americas Bank. The bank is located in Seattle's Westlake Center.

Applied Discovery

Scot Fordyce is the new director of research and development at Applied Discovery. Fordyce previously led system development teams at Microsoft, HomeGrocer.com and Microrim. Applied Discovery, based in Bellevue, develops electronic discovery solutions for the legal industry.

The Westin

The Westin Hotel is the official hotel sponsor of the Groundwork 2001 concert series running through Oct. 22. The week-long festival features many artists and is a benefit for worldwide hunger projects. The Westin will host performers, VIPs and staff during the series.

GoodThings

Seattle media company, GoodThings has launched a world news supplement called the GoodBuzz. The service is offered free via e-mail and features "positive, constructive and innovative stories on happenings from communities all over the world." The GoodBuzz is an extension of GoodThings' Web site (www.goodthings.com) and e-mail newsletter, the GoodLetter with 55,000 subscribers. Barcy Fisher is the CEO and founder of GoodThings.

Harbor Steps

Three new businesses have opened recently at Harbor Steps, the mixed-use residential complex on University Street. The three businesses, all in the property's north tower, are Holistic Tao, SeattleCafe.com and Art of Illustration. Holistic Tao, associated with the Dahn Center, offers full-service yoga facilities in a 3,235-square-foot space. SeattleCafe.com is an Internet café with high-speed connections rented by the minute or hour and is currently developing fully catered business and teleconferencing suites in its 2,880 square-foot location. Art of Illustration sells original paintings that have been published in books, magazines, calendars, albums, works for children, advertising and other forms of printed pop culture in its 1,400 square-foot space.

Verizon Wireless

Verizon has opened a retail store in Woodinville. The store, at 17742 Garden Way, will celebrate its grand opening Oct .19-21. Verizon operates 28 stores and kiosks throughout the state
