Seattle-based consulting engineering firm Harris Group has added Charles A. "Chuck" Schultz as vice president, forest industries, Midwest region. Schultz provides senior consulting and project management to national and regional customers. Schultz will lead consulting engineering efforts with forest industry companies having locations in the Midwest. Some of Harris Group's national forest industries customers include: Boise Cascade, Georgia-Pacific, Stora Enso, Weyerhaeuser and Willamette Industries. Harris Group ranks fifth among design firms serving pulp and paper mills according to Engineering News Record's Top 500 Design Firms Sourcebook 2001.
Fletcher Farr Ayotte, a Portland architecture, planning and interior design firm, recently added four members to its architectural, administrative and interiors staff. Tami White joins the FFA project teams working on models for Linn-Benton Community College, Shaari Torah renovation team, Beaverton School District Transportation and Support Center. Tim Mitchell is a member of the team working on the Mount Rainier Visitors Center and Historic Guidehouse. Ellen Hynson's duties include project set-up, job costing, client billings and assisting in the firm's conversion to a new financial management software system. Jody Giffinis currently working on tenant improvements for the Washington State Treasurer and Auditor and Blue Cross Blue Shield. Ben King is working on Steigerwald Gateway Center and the Sherwood master plan.
MulvannyG2 Architecture recently hired Janey Gregory as senior designer and Edward Hing as senior estimator at its Bellevue office. Gregory will assist in the design and development of new and existing retail projects. Her project experience includes 12 Muvico Theater megaplexes in the Southeast and the 14-acre, mixed-use Reston Town Center in Virginia. Hing will be working primarily on estimates of commercial projects. He has 25 years of related experience in South Africa, including working for professional estimating firms, property development firms and building contractors.
Karen Snope has joined the architectural firm of Erickson McGovern in Tacoma as marketing director. Snope has a 16-year school district facility management and construction background. Shawn Queen joins as an architect Intern. Queen is a University of Washington graduate with a construction and commercial design background.
Donald Phelps, a water resources consulting engineer from Chelan, was installed recently as director of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He will serve a three-year term as director of ASCE's District 12, which represents Alaska, Washington, Montana, Oregon, Idaho and western Canada. Phelps has chaired the ASCE Environmental and Water Resources Institute's Conferences and Exhibits Council, and is past president of the Washington Society of Professional Engineers. He serves as chairman of the Chelan County Water Conservancy Board.
GeoEngineers added Paul McAfee as contracts administrative manager. McAfee brings 14 years of contracting management and negotiation experience in the manufacturing, construction and engineering consulting industries. He will be reviewing and negotiating contracts, drafting and negotiating subcontracting agreements, and overseeing contract compliance. His focus will be on risk management, staff training and assisting project managers with financial management of projects.
The national architectural and engineering firm of Carter & Burgess announced that Karleen Brown has joined the firm as marketing manager with the Seattle Facilities Unit. Brown will help expand facilities design services. Before joining Carter & Burgess, Brown served as a consultant for Sound Transit’s Link Light Rail, where she assisted in the development of document control standards and procedures. The Seattle office is involved in many local projects, including the Port of Seattle Capital Improvement Program Phase II Planning, and was recently awarded the King County Power Distribution Headquarters Replacement project as a subconsultant to Otak

New Path Marketing, a marketing communications company, founded by David Barbrack and Lori Lerian has opened in Kirkland. New Path Marketing offers project management services and is targeting outdoor manufacturers, hospitality and food/wine. Barbrack and Lerian most recently worked for EMB Partners in Seattle where Barbrack was co-owner for seven years and Lerian was vice president, account supervisor. Prior to EMB, both worked at EvansGroup (now Publicis).
Shareholders of Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt have named Mark Long managing shareholder, David Bartz president and Karen O'Kasey to a term on its board of directors. Long and Bartz have been with the Oregon law firm since 1982. O'Kasey joined the firm in 1987.
Dana Weinman is the new regional vice president of Home Depot's Northwest division based in Seattle. She will be overseeing store operations for more than 40 stores in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming and Alaska. Weinman has been with Home Depot for 15 years and most recently served as a district manager in southern California.
Perkins Coie has added three land use/environmental attorneys to its Portland office. Steven Pfeiffer, Michael Robinson and Frank Flynn were all formerly with Stoel Rives.
Hoby Douglass has been named vice president of sales for Moonstone Mountain Equipment. Most recently, Douglass was an independent rep in the Pacific NW territory for Deuter Packs & Crescent Moon Snowshoes. Moonstone, based in Seattle, is a division of Pacific Trail, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of London Fog Industries
