Waterfront, Chez Gus

Rich Troiani has been hired to oversee operations at two Seattle restaurants: Waterfront at Pier 70 and a new venture by Paul Mackay: Chez Gus. Troiani is a managing partner of the restaurants. Most recently, Troiani managed the opening of Portland's El Gaucho. He also worked in management for Kimpton Restaurant Group. Chez Gus opens this week at Pier 70. Mackay described it as a "neighborhood gathering spot" that will feature burgers, ribs, steaks and other "comfort foods." It will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, seven days a week.

Elliott's Oyster House

Elliott's Oyster House appointed Mike Bryan executive chef. Bryan previously served as executive chef at Palomino. Elliott's, according to Fortune Magazine, is one of the top five oyster bars in America.

Foss Maritime

Barry Baldwin has been named the new director of business development, harbor services for Foss Maritime Co. Baldwin previously served as regional director in Southern California. Dave Selga will succeed Baldwin in that position. Selga was previously marine superintendent. Both will be based in Long Beach, Calif. Foss provides ship assist, tanker escort, petroleum transportation, and regional towing services in all major ports on the West Coast.

Tully's Coffee

Tully's Coffee will be sold in 203 Safeway stores throughout Washington, Alaska and Montana. Tully's coffee is also available in grocery stores such as Andronicos, Draegers, Larry's Markets, Haggens and Top Foods. Tully's is the third largest company-owned specialty coffee retailer in the nation, with 143 locations in the Northwest and Pacific Rim.

Robert Santelli was promoted to director and CEO at the Experience Music Project. Santelli used to be the deputy director. Santelli will continue to work under executive director Jody Patton.

HomeStreet Bank

HomeStreet Bank has opened its ninth branch on Main Street in historic Old Bellevue. Milt Fritts will lead sales and operations of the branch.

TSET

Daniel R. Dwight has been named president and CEO of TSET of Lake Oswego, Ore. Dwight will succeed Jeffery D. Wilson as part of a reorganization where TSET will focus on its subsidiary, Kronos Air. Wilson will remain on the board of directors and act as a consultant. Kronos develops and manufactures air filtration systems, and is currently re-evaluating its testing of a technology that showed the ability to reduce an active airborne virus similar to anthrax.

Community Psychiatric Clinic

Community Psychiatric Clinic was recently chosen as a second place recipient of the 2001 Lilly Reintegration Awards in the housing category. The awards recognize people and programs that provide support for those with schizophrenia and related disorders to reintegrate into their communities. The clinic’s Harbor House Safe Haven was chosen by the Office of Housing and Urban Development to be featured in a video documentary. The Community Psychiatric Clinic provides specialized housing for low-income mentally ill people

Pankow Builders

Charles Hafenbrack has been named director of business development at Charles Pankow Builders' Bellevue office. Hafenbrack's responsibilities include acquisition of new business for the company in the Pacific Northwest region. He was previously vice president of marketing at Sellen Construction and is a graduate of Washington State University. Charles Pankow Builders is one of the largest general contractors in the United States, with its headquarters in the Los Angeles area and additional offices in San Francisco, Oakland, Honolulu and Newport Beach, Calif.

Mayes Testing Engineers

Everett-based Mayes Testing Engineers has opened a Portland office and laboratory and hired James H. Standen as the branch manager. Standen has over 27 years of engineering experience in the fields of construction materials testing and inspection, and structural building evaluation. He holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Wayne State University in Detroit and is a licensed professional engineer in Oregon.

Foster Wheeler

Global engineering and construction giant Foster Wheeler has hired former Kaiser Aluminum Corp. chairman and CEO Raymond Milchovich as its chairman, CEO and president. Milchovich joined Kaiser in 1980 as operations manager of its flat-rolled products operation in Spokane. He became president and chief operating officer in 1997 and CEO in 2000.
