Wells Fargo

Lois Timmons has joined Wells Fargo’s Private Client Services as a private banker. Timmons most recently served as a private banking officer for U.S. Bank. She will be based at Wells Fargo Center in downtown Seattle. The bank also named William H. Schenck as senior vice president of commercial banking for the South Sound region. He is a 10-year veteran of Wells Fargo and will be based in Tacoma overseeing a team of 12 serving South King, Kitsap, Pierce, Thurston, Lewis, Mason, Pacific, Grays Harbor, Jefferson and Callam counties. Tony Liebo was named Pacific Northwest loan team manager for the Wells Fargo HSBC Trade Bank. His Seattle-based team will provide credit, trade services and treasury management to medium-sized businesses in Washington, Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Wyoming.

RealNetworks

Real networks named Jeremy Jaech to its board of directors. Jaech is known for his roles in founding Aldus and Visio and serving as Visio's CEO. At Aldus, he was technical leader for development of PageMaker. Jaech currently serves on the boards of Pivotal Corp., Vizx Labs and Performant.

Order of Elks

By unanimous ballot, the delegates at the 138th Grand Lodge Convention of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks elected Roger True as national president, known as the grand exalted ruler. True is a resident of Richland and 28-year member of the Elks. He will serve his year-long term traveling the nation to promote the Elks' charitable and patriotic programs.

Yarrow Bay Grill

Vicky McCaffree has returned to head chef duties at the Yarrow Bay Grill. She recently worked at the Waterfront restaurant. McCaffree replaces Felix Acosta who is leaving to pursue other interests. McAffee started her restaurant career at the Surrogate Hostess and was co-chef at Rosellini's Other Place. McCaffree has been honored several times for her cooking, including an invitation to cook as a guest star chef at the James Beard House in New York in 1997.

Spokane Heart Study

The Health Research and Education Center at Washington State University Spokane will partner with the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Swiss researchers to expand the work of the Spokane Heart Study. The study, initiated in 1994 and led by Dr. C. Harold Mielke has followed nearly 1,000 volunteer healthy participants with no evidence of heart disease over seven years to track their coronary health.

Port of Tacoma

The Port of Tacoma recently appointed Michael Adams as chief engineer/director of engineering. He will direct planning, design and construction of all major port projects. Adams was operations director of Parsons Brinckerhoff Programme Management. Adams retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1995, previously serving as director of public works for the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, and program manager for North Atlantic Treaty Organization Allied Forces South in Naples, Italy.

Kibble & Prentice

Martin Andrews has joined the employee benefits division of Kibble & Prentice as a vice president and Ellen Boyer is the firm's new chief financial officer. Boyer was previously with Phycom Corp. Andrews was previously vice president of marketing and sales with Regence BlueShield.

Accordia

Carl P. Grosenick is a new account executive for the insurance brokerage firm Accordia. His previous experience includes positions with St. Paul and Firemen's insurance companies. Accordia is a Wells Fargo company providing marine, property and casualty, workers compensation and employee benefit products and services.

Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle

The Key Foundation has donated $50,000 to the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle for development of the Urban League Village, a $17 million renovation project at the historic Colman School in Rainier Valley. The project will transform the 1909 school to provide cultural, recreational and economic opportunities to the community. The facility will house an African-American museum, office space and affordable housing.

Estate Planning Council of Seattle

The Estate Planning Council of Seattle elected Marcia K. Fujimoto to its executive committee. Fujimoto is a member of Graham & Dunn's board of directors and chairs the firm's wealth management team. The 350-member Estate Planning Council of Seattle is a not-for-profit organization promoting estate planning services in the Pacific Northwest.

Mackie Design

Mackie Design named Robert A. McDonald executive vice president, engineering and product development. McDonald previously was principal of his own management consulting firm, R.A. McDonald Co., during which time he served as CEO of TimeLine of San Mateo, Calif. Mackie Design, based in Woodinville, designs and manufactures professional audio equipment.

John L. Scott

Johnston

Jim Clarke, formerly president of Seattle Coffee Co., and his wife Kathy Clarke, formerly an Ackerley Communications sales executive, have agreed to buy the John L. Scott Real Estate residential office in Anacortes from Martha Clure. The Clarkes, who operate under the business name of Clarkeland Properties, plan to continue operating the office as a John L. Scott affiliate. The Clarkes recently moved from Seattle to Anacortes. Clure has owned and managed the office since 1995, and she'll continue to be affiliated with the new organization. She worked as an agent and broker for 28 years before she started the Anacortes office. "The Clarkes bring an especially strong marketing and management component to this business," Clure said. "They also have a great deal of love and respect for the area ... these were important factors in making the final decision to sell the business."

Mark Johnston, meanwhile, moved up to managing broker for John L. Scott's Magnolia office. Johnston has worked for the residential agency since 1990 selling homes in the Kirkland office. Things should swing in the Magnolia office now. "Apart from real estate, Johnston is very involved in swing dance, competing in national level competitions across the U.S.," John L. Scott said. "He is also the past president of the Seattle Swing Dance Club, which is the oldest established club of its kind in the country."

Meriwether Partners

David Rothrock jumped from Colliers International to the new Meriwether Partners, formed earlier this year by Robert Briscoe and Joel Aslanian. Rothrock rose in nine years as a broker at Colliers to senior vice president in tenant representation. He has become a Meriwether partner and will form an occupancy services division for the Seattle-based commercial real estate services firm. Before Colliers, Rothrock worked for two years in economic development with the Spokane Economic Development Council.

Opus Northwest

Ruhl

Mike Ruhl was promoted from real estate director to senior real estate director at the development company Opus Northwest in Bellevue. Ruhl has specialized in industrial and flex-office development during the past decade at Opus. His current projects include Northpointe Corporate Campus in Lynnwood, Woodinville 522 Industrial Center, Emerald Corporate Park in Auburn, Sumner Landing North and Pacific Coast Corporate Center.

PacLand

Fortunato

Bill Fortunato rejoined the Seattle-based engineering firm of PacLand, previously named Pacific Land Design, as a manager of several retail projects in the Puget Sound region. Fortunato worked for PacLand from 1996 to 1998, after he received a civil engineering degree from the University of Washington. He shifted to Washington, D.C., where he worked as a consulting engineer on hospitals, museums, mixed-use developments and office buildings. PacLand's services include planning, design and project management for real estate developers in the Western United States.
