Woodland Park Zoo

The Woodland Park Zoological Society selected Deborah B. Jensen as Woodland Park Zoo president and CEO after a two-year search. The decision follows a 20-year agreement approved in December by the Seattle City Council transferring the zoo's management and operations to the Zoo Society. Jensen is a former vice-president for The Nature Conservancy, with 20 years experience in conservation and environmental science administration. She succeeds Dave Towne, the society's retired executive director/CEO, and Mike Waller, retired zoo director.

Bellevue Philharmonic

Lane Powell Spears Lubersky attorney Mark Asplund has been elected president of the Bellevue Philharmonic's board of directors. Asplund has served on the board since 2000.

Wells Fargo

Donald L. Grant, a 25-year Wells Fargo employee, will serve as the company's senior vice president of commercial banking for the Eastside region, encompassing Issaquah, Redmond and Bothell, as well as Snohomish, Skagit and Whatcom counties. Wells Fargo also promoted Lisa M. Smith to manager of the Langston Landing banking store in Kent.

REI, MountainZone.com

Recreational Equipment Inc. (REI) will team with Seattle-based MountainZone.com to offer its outdoor gear to readers of the Web site's content on outdoor recreation activities. REI is a consumer cooperative with more than 2 million active members nationwide. MountainZone.com offers news, first-person narratives, live event coverage and photography.

Overlake Hospital

Hospitals & Health Networks magazine named Bellevue's Overlake Hospital Medical Center one of six "Most Wired Innovator" award finalists. In its July issue, the magazine recognized Overlake for advancements in the use of the Internet to securely access patient information. This is the third consecutive year that the magazine has recognized Overlake's achievements

Richard A. Moore joined the law firm of Buck & Gordon in May as an associate in the area of real estate transactions. Moore spent the previous six years practicing law in the Seattle office of Preston Gates & Ellis.

Shelter Mortgage

Shelter Mortgage Co. of Bellevue has hired Kimberly Petersen as a loan officer. Petersen brings 12 years of mortgage banking experience to the company and most recently worked for Normandy Mortgage.

Independent Colleges and Universities

The Washington Association of Independent Colleges and Universities/Independent Colleges of Washington (WAICU/ICW) has named Ober Tyus as director of development and Karen Rosenzweig as director of communications. Coming from Oregon State University, Tyus brings over 25 years of experience in development and university relations for both public and private universities. Rosenzweig has 20 years of corporate and university public relations experience. The WAICU/ICW is an association of 10 college and university members, representing the interests of private higher education.

Wells Fargo

Donald L. Grant, a 25-year Wells Fargo employee, will serve as the company's senior vice president of commercial banking for the Eastside region, encompassing Issaquah, Redmond and Bothell, as well as Snohomish, Skagit and Whatcom counties. Wells Fargo also promoted 19-year veteran Diane Johnson to market manager of the newly created Northshore Community Banking market, based in Woodinville, and Lisa M. Smith to manager of the Langston Landing banking store in Kent.

Jack Simmons operated the Burgermaster Restaurant on Aurora Avenue in Seattle for more than 20 years. Now he's going to sell houses in a new career as a sales associate in the Highlands office of John L. Scott Real Estate.

Unico

Brenda Hawthorne joined Unico Properties in Seattle as director of human resources. Hawthorne previously worked as vice president for human resources for Silvaco International, a high-tech company in Silicon Valley, and as vice president of administration for a credit union. She holds a bachelor's degree in human resources management from the University of Nevada Las Vegas.

Prudential MacPherson's

Damon McGruder joined Prudential MacPherson's Greenlake office as a residential sales associate. The firm also hired Autumn McIntyre, Gary Sweat, Jennifer Eigner and Felice Berk at its Lynnwood office. James Lupori started in the Shorline office. Maya McLain and Derek Grown joined the Woodinville office. Maria LaFuente, Jason Seth, Ruta Bastiene, Ty Bufanda and Mai Moua now work at the Renton office. Elizabeth Reyes, Rashel Douglas and Ann Hilario joined the Auburn office.

Marcus & Millichap

Marcus & Millichap broker Armand Tiberio arranged the $1.3 million sale of a 32-unit apartment complex in Lakewood from the Brown-Bechtold Investment Partnership to Mr. & Mrs. Geoff O. White. The Whites bought the Chandelle Apartments, at 3418 90th St. S. in Lakewood.

M&M's Daniel Swanson represented Robert J. Ross in buying the 15-room Edgewater Inn Motel in Seaside, Ore., for $1.375 million. Ross bought the hotel from Meadowland Properties.

M&M's Marc Cunningham represented both sides in CD Associates' sale of a 24-unit Central District apartment complex to Central Area Development Association for $1.6 million. The Union James Apartments are at 2101 E. James St.

Pinnacle Realty Management

Seattle-based apartment manager Pinnacle Realty Management hired Michael Biggs as regional vice president for the firm's central region, responsible for business development and property management in Houston and surrounding areas.
