The Harris

The Harris named Chris Merrywell vice president, financial services and Deborah Champion private mortgage banker in its Bellevue office. Merrywell was previously vice president and retail sales manager at US Bank in Bellevue. Champion most recently served as a residential lending officer at Bariger Meier & Associates.

Hanson Baker Ludlow Drumheller

Ryan D. McFarland joined the Bellevue law form of Hanson Baker Ludlow Drumheller. McFarland's practice centers in eminent domain, real estate and general business. Previously, McFarland was an associate at Perkins Coie.

University of Washington Medical Center

The University of Washington Medical Center named Dr. Edward A. Walker director. Walker will also serve as an associate dean of the School of Medicine. Walker has been associate medical director for psychiatric services at UW Medical Center since 1999 and currently serves as professor and vice chair of the UW department of psychiatry and behavioral sciences. The UW Medical Center provides specialized patient care and consulting services to physicians in Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho.

American Public Works Association

Jack Pittis has been named to the 17-member board of directors of the American Public Works Association as director of region IX. Pittis' appointment fills the unexpired term of Dwayne Kalynchuk, who was elected president-elect of the association. Pittis retired as director of public works for Port Angeles in 1999 after 19 years. The American Public Works Association is a not-for-profit, international organization of more than 26,000 members and 67 chapters based in Kansas City

Pierce College

Don Meyer has been appointed to the Pierce College board of trustees by Gov. Gary Locke. He will serve a five-year term on the five-member policy-making body. Meyer is currently executive director of the Foss Waterway Development Authority and previously served 14 years as the deputy executive director for Port of Tacoma.

Country Insurance and Financial Services

William F. Waterworth joined Country Insurance and Financial Services as an agent. Waterworth will be based in Lynnwood at 2122 164th St. S.W.

Tully's Coffee

Tully's Coffee named Paul Curhan vice president of marketing and merchandising. Most recently, Curhan was director of international marketing and business development for Amazon.com and is a former marketing director of Starbucks Coffee. Tully's, founded in 1992, currently operates 102 specialty stores in Washington, Oregon, California and Idaho, with more than 70 stores licensed for operation in Asia.

Stoel Rives

Thomas Newlon joined the Seattle office of Stoel Rives as a principal in the firm's environmental, land use and natural resource practice. Newlon previously spent 10 years as senior port counsel for the Port of Seattle. Stoel Rives, along with its San Francisco-based Washburn, Briscoe & McCarthy affiliate employs more than 375 lawyers and 500 support staff in Washington, Oregon, California, Utah and Idaho.

Top Food & Drug

Top Food & Drug opened a new store in the Lakeland Hills development in southeast Auburn at 1406 Lake Tapps Parkway E. The new, 70,000-square-foot store will be operated by parent company Haggen, Inc. Haggen, based in Bellingham, operates 28 supermarkets and one pharmacy under the names Top Food & Drug and Haggen Food & Pharmacy in Washington and Oregon.

Environmental Home Center

The Environmental Home Center is a major sponsor of and will host this year's Bra Show in support of breast cancer awareness month during October. Patti Southard, the outside sales manager for Environmental Home Center is a founder of the fundraising event. Several pieces of bra art will be on display in the Environmental Home Center’s showroom throughout the month of October.
