NW Natural Gas of Portland named Mark S. Dodson chief executive officer. Dodson will replace Richard G. Reiten who has been the company's CEO since 1997 in January, 2003. Dodson has been with NW Natural Gas since 1997 and currently serves as president and chief operating officer. Reiten will remain chairman of NW Natural's board of directors.
Larry Steele has been elected to a three-year term on the board of directors of the American Rental Association. Steele will represent members in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington. Steele is president of Aurora Rents in Shoreline.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency named Dennis Hunsinger to head the Region 10 National Preparedness Division. Hunsinger is a former chief of police at several U.S. Air Force bases and recently served as federal coordinating officer on sequential Stafford Act disaster declarations.
Gary Daynes is the new director of service-learning at Washington Campus Compact, a 23-member organization of university and college presidents committed to making community service a vital part of higher education. Daynes was previously assistant professor of history at Brigham Young University. Washington Campus Compact is housed at Western Washington University. WWU President Karen Morse is chair of its executive board. The organization is supported through a $400,000 Learn and Serve grant from the Corporation for National & Community Service.
Tacoma-based Bratrud Middleton Insurance appointed Michael J. Ferreira sales manager. Ferreira has been a member of Bratrud’s Tacoma office since 1996. Headquartered in Tacoma, Bratrud Middleton operates branch offices in Auburn, Bainbridge Island, Bremerton, Longview, Olympia, Puyallup, Tacoma and Vancouver.
Par3 Communications named Don Schlosser chief financial officer. Most recently, Schlosser served as senior vice president and CFO of Vision Compass. Schlosser has held previous appointments at AEI Music Network and King Broadcasting. Seattle-based Par3 develops and markets interactive event-based notification solutions. The company enables businesses and customers to communicate with interactive notification messages. Among Par3's clients are Capital One, Progressive Insurance, Northwest Airlines, Puget Sound Energy, Cox Communications and Quicken Loans.
HCI Steel Building Systems has appointed Vladimir Ivanov to its engineering staff and has promoted Mike Finn to head up sales of the company's new self-storage division. Finn joined the Arlington-based firm last year and has several years of experience in the field. In addition to self-storage projects, the new division will focus on the multi-story, climate-controlled storage market.
Tom Cain has been promoted to senior project manager at Mayes Testing Engineers. His new duties include project management, overseeing inspection staff, and supervising on-site inspections. He has been with the company for seven years as a special inspector in concrete, structural steel and masonry. He holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Washington.
The Construction Industry Training Council of Washington has hired Deborah Burke as an administrative assistant. With more than 13 years of office administration experience, Burke's background includes bookkeeping, payroll, cost accounting and general office management. Prior to joining CITC, she served as an executive assistant for AT&T Fixed Wireless Services.
The Associated Builders and Contractors of Western Washington has selected Randy Bosley of Sovereign Enterprises as its 2002 Volunteer of the Year. The award is given to members who make a significant contribution to the industry and further the merit shop philosophy of free competition. Bosley serves on the association's board of directors, chairs its Diversity Committee, was the guiding force behind its School of Construction Management for Emerging Contractors, serves on its Membership Council, is a liaison between it and community agencies that serve minority contracting firms, and has sponsored many new association members.
