Rainier Beach Complex

The Rainier Beach Community Center and Pool will hold a community health fair and open house on Friday, Jan. 17. The event, sponsored by the Cierra Sisters and Seattle Parks and Recreation, will feature free pool programs, health screenings and a self-defense program. For more information, call (206) 386-1925.

Certificate of Distinction

Bellevue, Kent and Lynnwood have been honored with a Certificate of Distinction from the International City/County Management Association Center for Performance Management. Only 12 local governments nationwide received the rating. The award recognizes the use of performance measurement as a tool of budget planning and strategic management.

Discovery Park

Northwest Brass Band Festival

The Puget Brass, the Seattle Temple Band of the Salvation Army, the Spokane British Brass Band, and Brass Band Northwest will team up under the direction of conductor and cornet soloist Steve Hubbard for the Northwest Brass Band Festival. Each band will appear individually and as part of a 100-instrument festival band on Jan. 18 at the First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue. RH2 Engineering

Moe Batra, project and marketing manager with RH2 Engineering, was recently presented with the Distinguished Service Award by the Washington Association of Sewer and Water Districts. The award is presented to associate members for outstanding service provided to the association, districts and industry.

Reid Middleton

Adina Prisecaru, senior structural engineer at Reid Middleton, recently passed the Structural Engineering 1 exam and received her civil engineering professional license for Washington. Prisecaru is experienced in the design of steel, concrete, wood and masonry building structures (commercial, residential and industrial) and in the area of rapid rail transit design.

Kylie Yamatsuka was recently promoted to senior engineer. He is responsible for project management and business development of the structural engineering group's earthquake engineering practice, including code compliance review and seismic evaluation and rehabilitation design projects. He has experience in building, transportation and waterfront projects.

Sally Tibbits recently joined as a project administrator for the structural engineering group. Tibbits provides administrative support to project managers and other designated project engineers in the structural engineering group. She is responsible for maintaining the group's project filing system, monitoring and tracking project and resource schedules, conducting research for projects and sending project information to team members and applicants.

Gregg Vernon was recently promoted to senior designer. Vernon is responsible for creating construction documents and comprehensive structural drawings for building design. He has 17 years' experience as a drafter, specializing in structural projects. He previously worked for eight years as a contracted lead drafter for Skilling Ward Magnusson Barkshire.

Corbin Hammer has joined Reid Middleton as an engineer in the structural engineering group. He is responsible for preparing basic engineering design calculations and quantity takeoffs for building, seismic retrofit, waterfront, military and aviation projects. He graduated last year from Washington State University with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering.

Hart Crowser

Angelica Torres has been hired as project assistant with Hart Crowser’s water resources department. Torres brings 15 years of senior level executive assistant and management experience to the firm. In her new position, she will provide administrative support for project monitoring, budget tracking, departmental goals and water resources marketing, and will serve as liaison between clients, project managers and technical personnel.

Blumen Consulting Group

Denise Evans joined Blumen Consulting Group as a senior associate. Evans has 10 years' experience in environmental planning, SEPA/NEPA compliance and permitting for a range of public and private development projects. She previously served as a senior environmental planner at Shapiro and Associates.
