Architects BCRA announced the addition of four employees: Gareth Roe, as a senior urban planner, and Mian (Max) Xie, Lorie Cole and Kyle Absher as architects.

Roe joins the BCRA team with 10 years experience in land use, planning and permit expediting. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and the Washington State Chapter of the American Planning Association.

Xie recently completed his master's of science in architecture from Mississippi State University. He has won two international design awards. Cole has 10 years of fire protection design experience.

Before coming to the United States, Lorie was a licensed as an architect in the Philippines.

Absher is a 2003 graduate of Arizona State with a bachelor of science in architectural studies. After interning with Architects BCRA during his junior year, he is a full time architectural designer.

BCRA's project experience includes the Albers Mill on the Thea Foss Waterway, Hunan Garden Restaurant in Puyallup and the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium Wild Wonders Amphitheater and Zoo Hub.

ALSC Architects of Spokane announced that M. Mertz Wuts and Tony Janson joined the design staff. Wuts, who has been practicing in the Spokane area for 28 years, has worked on building types ranging from residential to high-rise towers. Other work includes a post office and correction facility. He is project architect for the Sadie Halstead Middle School remodel for Newport School District.

Janson has 18 years of design experience, with an emphasis on retail, educational, recreational and commercial facilities. Janson's projects include serving as project designer for a military retail facility at McChord Air Force Base and a private mixed-use office/retail building in Spokane.

Sparling recently added Maureen Jackson, Lindsey Gilmore and Robert Johnson to electrical design studios that specialize in commercial, retail, industrial and health care projects.

Jackson has 15 years experience in the engineering and consulting industry, including project management and consulting work in Washington, Louisiana and Arkansas, and joined Sparling as a project manager for commercial and retail projects. Her current projects include the Health and Wellness Center for the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe in Auburn, the Heart Center addition at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, Ore., and two Seattle mixed-use projects: 500 Mercer and 428 Westlake.

Gilmore is a graduate of Purdue University and completed electrical design for biomedical/pharmaceutical and other projects as an intern with Jacobs Engineering Group in Cincinnati. She is a project designer for a studio that specializes in health care projects.

Johnson has a journeyman electrician's background, received a B.S. in electrical engineering from North Carolina State University, and recently passed the FE/EIT exam. He will work on power system designs for industrial and military projects.

Marcan

Maryjane F. Fatigati was appointed general manager of Marcan, a Bellevue-based company that offers CD-R and DVD-R duplication, CD replication and DVD video authoring services. Fatigati, who began her career with Marcan as controller, has 15 years of experience in accounting and operations.

Port of Everett

The Port of Everett named Carl Wollebek, formerly marine marketing director, director of marine terminals. Wollebek will be responsible for daily operations and coordination of expanded port facilities, including the soon to be constructed rail barge dock. He replaces Ed Paskovskis, who was named deputy executive director. Paskovskis is now responsible for the port's security, redevelopment of the Mukilteo Tank Farm, transportation issues and labor relations.

Everett Community College

Michael Kerns, formerly interim vice president of administrative services, was named vice president of administrative services at Everett Community College. Previously, Kerns was the assistant city administrator for the City of Lynnwood.

Banner Bank

Banner Bank, based in Walla Walla, hired Terry Weimer as vice president of its Tri-Cities Corporate Banking Team. Don Paddock was named vice president, client manager at the Quinalt Corporate & Real Estate Loan Center in Kennewick. Weimer and Paddock will be responsible for corporate banking in the Columbia Basin marketplace.

Qdoba Mexican Grill

Qdoba Mexican Grill will open its eighth Seattle-area location in Redmond at 15116 N.E. 24th St. The restaurant will host a grand opening party the evening of Nov. 14. For a $5 donation patrons will receive an entree and drink of their choice. All proceeds go to the Boys and Girls Club of King County.
