Michael K. Kirschner has joined Seattle law firm Hillis Clark Martin & Peterson as of counsel. He will work on patent matters, focusing on the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. He was the vice president of intellectual property at Immunex Corp., and headed the law department of Amgen's Seattle office.
Chelan County Superior Court Judge John E. Bridges recently won the 2005 William Nevins Award from the Washington Judges Foundation. The award goes to someone who helps with youth education or public understanding of the law and role of the judiciary in American society. The foundation recognized Bridges for his work to review and help the public understand the court challenge to Washington's gubernatorial election.
Nick McClellan, Bruce Coons and Timothy Beblo have joined Delta Computer Systems, a Vancouver manufacturer of motion controllers and color sensors. McClellan is a computer and network specialist. Coons work on sales and distribution in the Northeastern U.S. and parts of Canada. Beblo is a sales manager and will cover the Southeastern U.S.
Redmond-based Overlake Terrace, an assisted living and care center, named Soher Bishai executive director. Bishai has more than 13 years of experience in assisted living and memory care administration. In 1984, she was the first female pediatrician to open a private clinic in Dubai. She moved to Seattle in 1990, when she opted not to redo medical school and instead began working in administration

Certified public accountant Nolan Newman has launched his own firm. His company, Nolan A. Newman, will focus on tax, accounting and planning for businesses and healthcare groups. Newman worked for Arthur Andersen in Seattle as well as in South Africa, and was also with Clark Nuber in Bellevue. He has affiliated with Seattle financial firm Jandl, Dierst & Hales. The joint office is located at 221 First Ave. W., Suite 400 in Seattle.
Seattle firm Preston Gates & Ellis named John Chun a partner in its labor, employment and benefits practice group. Chun will focus on employment and commercial litigation, including class action defense work. He will also continue to represent clients in international legal matters, especially in representing Korean companies in litigation arising out of international business transactions. Chun was a partner at Mundt MacGregor in Seattle.
Seattle firm Ogden Murphy Wallace added Emily Harris Gant and E. Ross Farr as associate lawyers. Gant is in the litigation department and focuses on liability and representing the wine industry. Farr does litigation and employment law.
