The Seattle law firm of Garvey Schubert Barer promoted Sevilla C.P. Claydon to owner. Claydon joined the firm as an associate in 2000 and practices labor and employment law. Attorneys Ronald J. Knox, Anne F. Preston and Mark A. Rowley will serve as the firm's 2006 management committee in Seattle. The firm has five offices: Beijing, Seattle, Portland, New York and Washington, D.C.
The Higher Education Coordinating Board elected a chair, vice-chair and secretary. Gene Colin will serve as chairman, replacing Bob Craves. Bill Grinstein is vice chair and Jesus Hernandez is board secretary. Colin is chairman and CEO of Ferguson Construction. Grinstein is with Battelle's Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and Hernández is with Community Choice Healthcare Network in Wenatchee.
Wireless Services Corp. of Bellevue named Doug Busk vice president and general manager of SinglePoint Carrier Solutions. He previously worked with Verizon Wireless and Cingular.
Puget Sound Business Journal Editor Emory Thomas Jr. has been named to succeed Mike Flynn as publisher. Flynn will retire in April after 24 years at the helm of the newspaper.

The Seattle law firm of Helsell Fetterman has hired Laura E. Hoexter as Of Counsel. Her practice will focus on wills, trusts and estates. Hoexter previously was with an estate and business planning tax firm in Bellevue.
Gov. Chris Gregoire appointed Howard Lincoln, chairman and CEO of the Seattle Mariners, to the Western Washington University board of trustees. Lincoln retired as chairman of Nintendo of America to join the Mariners in 2000. He will serve until 2010.
Seattle Financial Group, a family-owned, independent mortgage banking firm, acquired Turnure & Associates, a property and casualty insurance broker. Seattle Insurance Group, the new insurance arm of the company, will offer business, personal and life insurance. Tom Turnure will be president of the insurance group, which is licensed to do business in 16 states. Robert E. Story, Jr. has been named president of the company. Former President Randy Weber will become vice chairman. The group includes Seattle Mortgage, Seattle Savings Bank, Seattle Escrow, Seattle Capital, Reverse Mortgage of America and other brands.
Seattle-Northwest Securities Corp., a Seattle-based investment bank and bond underwriter, has expanded its Taxable Sales Department with the addition of Barbara Gibbs. Gibbs has worked for financial institutions for over 30 years, and was an assistant treasurer for Bank of America, Oregon.
Evader, Inc., a Bellevue-based maker of electric high-performance vehicles, named Douglass Wright chief financial officer. He has more than 25 years of experience as a financial executive. Wright will be based in the company's new offices in Miami. The location will consolidate Evader's Latin American sales office, financial operations and Brazilian support office.
