Attorney Robyn A. Lindsay has been appointed a Pierce County Superior Court commissioner. Lindsay has been in private practice in Pierce County since 1984. She will be sworn in Oct. 6.
Longview Fibre Co. hired Steven J. Buhaly as senior vice president and chief financial officer. Buhaly was with Planar Systems. Longview Fibre owns nearly 600,000 acres of timberland and sells logs, lumber, paper, paperboard and containers.
Heather Gelfand, Melinda Scheuffele, Logan Grey, Zach Heindel and Jeremy Witt joined mechanical contractor Holaday-Parks. Gelfand has 10 years of experience in building automation systems and holds an associate's degree in computer information systems from Aims Community College in Colorado. Scheuffele is working in the accounting department and holds a purchasing certificate from Shoreline Community College. Grey is an information technology assistant. He holds an associate's degree in computer networking systems from ITT Technical Institute. Heindel is an administrative assistant in the service division and has a bachelor's degree in special studies from Cornell College, Iowa. Witt is a CAD professional in the engineering department. He holds an associate's degree in drafting from Manhattan Area Technical College in Kansas.
Veca added Brent Leckie as project manager in the Health Care Division. Veca is an electrical and communications contractor based in Seattle.
The Construction Industry Training Council of Washington hired Ardis Benson as director of apprenticeship advancement. Benson is working with schools, agencies, municipalities and contractors to increase their awareness of the apprenticeship training programs available through CITC. She was the executive director of the Independent Electrical Contractors Association and worked as an electrician.
Alaska's Steelfab promoted Barrie Pritchard to estimator and hired Dan DeMarco as estimator. Pritchard has worked at the company for 18 years as a fabricator, welder and shop foreman. He is a graduate of Ystrad Mynach Technical College in Wales, U.K. DeMarco previously was an engineering technician at Spokane Industries in Spokane and a 15-year Navy veteran.

Allstate Insurance Co. is opening a new agency at 17521 15th Ave. N.E. in Shoreline. The agency is owned and operated by agent Rallie Jamero III.
Visual Ventures has promoted Gary Mason to art director. He has been with the graphic design and advertising firm in Kenmore since 2002.
The Sun Spa is expected to be one of the first retailers to open in Woodinville Village, a $200 million mixed-use development scheduled to be completed in early 2008. The Sun Spa focuses on nutrition, exercise and spa treatments. Discussions are continuing with potential tenants for hotel, grocery, health club and gallery spaces. Woodinville Village will be anchored by four local wineries and have 300 condos.
