UW Tacoma

The University of Washington Tacoma named Sharon Parker new assistant chancellor for equity and diversity. Parker is responsible for institutional diversity initiatives and oversees the Diversity Task Force and the Diversity Resource Center. Most recently, she operated a consulting practice.

Giant Campus

Seattle-based Giant Campus, a national youth education center for technology, hired Derek Doke as vice president of sales. Doke developed sales and marketing strategies for Microsoft, Intuit and Principal Financial Group.

Port of Everett

The Port of Everett announced Dean Shaughnessy, marina operations manager, is leaving the Port in May to start Marina Consulting Services on Camano Island. Shaughnessy has worked with the Port for more than 27 years. He has served on the board of directors and earned a commission resolution in his name after minimizing marina damage in a 1996 snow storm.

PPI Exhibit Design & Fabrication

PPI Exhibit Design & Fabrication in Portland hired Kevin Lawrence as business development executive for the Architectural Environments Division. Lawrence was an account manager with Kunzweiler USA. PPI Exhibit Design & Fabrication is a full service company with offices in Portland, Seattle and Boise.

Triad Associates

Triad Associates promoted Brad Freeman to project principal. Freeman joined Triad in 1988 as a survey CAD technician and was promoted to project surveyor in 1990 and survey project manager in 2003. As a principal, Freeman has an expanded role in managing multi-disciplinary projects.

Otak

Otak has added three professionals to support domestic and overseas projects. Cathy Ridley joined Otak’s Seattle office as graphic designer for Otak’s public services and planning group. Ridley has done graphic design for Honeywell’s Engineering Services Center. She most recently managed a team of marketing and graphic design professionals in Poulsbo. Otak’s Kirkland office hired Shelly O’Banion, senior proposal coordinator, and Jennifer Beard, engineer in training. O’Banion has more than 13 years of marketing experience in the Puget Sound region. Most recently, she coordinated proposals for a Bellevue engineering firm. Beard, an environmental resources engineering major at Humboldt State University, has worked on several projects, including restoration of habitat in a slough.

Mayer/Reed

Mayer/Reed’s environmental graphics group and the landscape architecture group recently expanded their staff. Konstanze Ulland joined the firm as a designer. Ulland has worked on wayfinding projects for TriMet and the Portland Mall revitalization as well as for Drake University in Iowa. Her other projects include an interactive information pavilion and donor signage. Ron Heiden served as lead designer and project manager at Otak. He has worked as a landscape architect for nearly 20 years on public and private projects throughout the West. His work at Mayer/Reed is focused on such projects as Willamette National Cemetery, the realignment of Airport Way and the Port of Portland headquarters and parking structure at Portland International Airport.

Yantis Acoustical Design

Yantis Acoustical Design recently added Andrew Boone as an acoustician. As a research assistant at Brigham Young University, Boone worked in active noise control and psychoacoustics. His current projects include Tulalip Hotel and Casino, an environmental noise study for the new Microsoft West Campus, University of Puget Sound noise study, K2 headquarters relocation and generator building design for AT&T/Cingular Wireless. He is a member of the Acoustical Society of America.

Sparling

Kendra Fuller joined Sparling as director of human resources, bringing more than 18 years of senior-level HR and business operations experience. Fuller is a certified senior professional in human resources and has experience in strategic planning, training, workforce planning, employee and labor relations, compensation and benefits, and occupational health and safety.

Rice Fergus Miller

Rice Fergus Miller added Shao-Lin Cheng, Seth Murray, Gena Lewis and Mike Anson. Cheng joined the firm as a graphic artist, assisting in the visualization lab to create 3-D representations of spaces for clients. Murray will work on senior housing projects, including Timber Ridge at Talus and Trillium Woods in Plymouth, Minn. Lewis, an interior designer, has eight years of experience in dental/medical office. Anson will provide production support on projects.

Gustafson Guthrie Nichol Ltd.

Gustafson Guthrie Nichol Ltd. hired Keith McPeters as a principal. McPeters has 20 years of experience in architecture and landscape architecture. His background includes public landscapes, urban designs, and campus and master plans. McPeters worked for Olin Partnership Landscape Architecture and Urban Design in Philadelphia. GGN also hired Jennifer Britton, Theresa Neylon and Jitesh Malik as designers. Rodrigo Abela was promoted to principal, and new associates are Ian Horton, Yi-Chun Lin Stanley, David Nelson, Lynda Olson, Emily Pizzuto, Cass Salzwedel and Grant Stewart.

MSGS Architects

Garner Miller has joined Olympia-based MSGS Architects as project designer. He is working on the expansion of the St. Michael Parish church campus in Olympia, with a new parish center, an addition to St. Michael School and more parking. He brings more than 14 years of experience in design of educational, commercial and civic facilities. Firm partners, Tom Sanford and Bill Sloane have recently become LEED accredited. WSU architecture graduate Chris Duchaine joined MSGS as intern-architect in 2006.
