Cornish College of the Arts

Carver Gayton, Ph.D, will receive an honorary degree from Seattle's Cornish College of the Arts on May 15 at Benaroya Hall. He will also address the Class of 2007 as the commencement speaker. Gayton is executive director of the Northwest African American Museum in Seattle.

Littler Mendelson

Law firm Littler Mendelson hired Douglas Smith in its Seattle office. Smith will advise employers on compliance with employment law, including wage and hour requirements and the USA Patriot Act. Littler Mendelson has 42 offices nationwide.

Papa Murphy's

The Vancouver-based take-n-bake pizza chain Papa Murphy's International hired Clarice Turner as president and chief operating officer. Turner spent 16 years with Yum! Brands where she worked with its subsidiary Taco Bell Corp. Papa Murphy's currently operates almost 1,000 locations in 30 states and Canada.

MTM Luxury Lodging

MTM Luxury Lodging, a Seattle-based hospitality company, has re-branded the Woodmark Hotel and Spa as the Woodmark Hotel, Yacht Club & Spa. It is the only hotel on Lake Washington in Kirkland. Brent Miller was hired as yacht club concierge and will arrange water-based activities for guests including cruise reservations to see homes on Lake Washington.

Colliers

Alan
Scott Alan, a senior vice president with Colliers International in Seattle, has received the SIOR industrial designation from the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors. People with the designation must have at least five years experience in industrial real estate and demonstrate ability, ethical conduct and integrity.

CREW meeting May 10

Commercial Real Estate Women Seattle will meet May 10 to hear Kip Lilly, principal, Lilly Foresight Dynamics, give a presentation on generational issues in the workplace. The program will cover the ways generations “see” the world differently and how people can better manage across the generational divide. Lilly has 20 years experience in organizational management and teaches for the Institute for Organization Management. The event will be at the Washington Athletic Club, 1325 Sixth Ave., from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Cost is $25 for CREW members and $55 for non-members. Reservations are due by Friday, April 27. CREW, Rebuilding Together Seattle

On Saturday, April 28, CREW Seattle will work on a home with Rebuilding Together Seattle and is seeking supplies and cash donations as well as help with painting, yard work, project management and donating lunch/breakfast. RedHill buys Royal Skies apartments

San Diego-based RedHill Realty Investors, a privately held real estate company, acquired the Royal Skies Apartments, a 240-unit property in Kent. This is the second Kent property in RedHill's portfolio. It bought the 304-unit Hampton Bay apartments in 2006. AEW Capital Management is a joint venture partner on Royal Skies.

Seattle Board of Park Commissioners

Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels is looking for a new member to serve on the seven-person Board of Park Commissioners. The board makes recommendations to the superintendent of Seattle Parks and Recreation on planning, development and use of parks and recreation space. Candidates will spend 25 to 30 hours a month on business and should be interested in youth programs, aquatics or community recreation centers. Group Health Cooperative

Group Health Cooperative hired Richard Magnuson as chief financial officer. Magnuson has been CFO at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Vermont and at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minnesota. Group Health is a Seattle-based nonprofit health care system.

Plum Creek Timber

Plum Creek Timber Co. promoted Thomas M. Lindquist to executive vice president and chief operating officer. Lindquist joined the company in 2001 as executive vice president. Plum Creek Timber is a national private landowner based in Seattle.

Diego

Kirkland-based Digeo, a provider of media platforms, made two promotions. Chauncey Gammage is vice president of human resources. Michael Luce is vice president of quality assurance.
