The Seattle office of law firm Lane Powell hired Timothy Jones as an associate in the Real Estate and Land Use Practice Group. Jones worked as an associate with Williams Kastner & Gibbs. Lane Powell has more than 180 attorneys in Washington, Oregon, Alaska and London.
Seattle-based Earth Class Mail, a global service that delivers postal mail online, hired Donald Bloodworth as chief financial officer and chief operating officer. Bloodworth spent 16 years at PacifiCorp and most recently served as a consultant to emerging-stage companies.
Attorney Fredric C. Tausend of Seattle is the 2007 recipient of the Ninth Circuit's John P. Frank Award. The award recognizes an outstanding lawyer practicing in the federal courts of the western United States. Tausend has been a senior counsel at Seattle's Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Preston Gates Ellis since 1990.
The Seattle Economics Council elected next season's officers. They are Betsy Minden, Stephen Land, Desirèe Phair and Marcel Badart. Alexander Rist is the outgoing president, and Robin Klemm is the outgoing treasurer.
Alfa Tec, a Seattle-based marine sales and service distributor, will open a second location in Tampa, Fla., by the end of the month. It will have expanded service capabilities for centrifuges, watermakers, heat exchangers, oily water separators, Omnipure MSD Systems and pumps.
The Heathman Hotel in Kirkland hired Carl Turpin as director of private dining and Belinda Jensen as senior private dining sales manager. Turpin has 25 years experience in the hospitality industry. Jensen worked at the Hilton Bellevue. The hotel will open in July.
Bellevue-based Confirma, a developer of CAD systems and accessories for medical imaging, hired Ward Sparacio as vice president of sales. Sparacio was director of sales for SonoSite.

Seattle-based Magic Wheels hired Phil Baechler as director of consumer marketing sales. Baechler is the inventor of the Baby Jogger and was founder of the Baby Jogger Co. Magic Wheels is a two-gear wheelchair drive that doesn't require batteries or motors.
Seattle-based WatchGuard Technologies, a provider of security appliances and threat management solutions, hired Terry Haas as vice president of international sales and Bill Smith as vice president of sales for the Americas. Haas was CEO of Solera Networks. Smith was with Landesk Software.
Redmond-based Innuity promoted Linden Barney to chief financial officer. Barney has been with Innuity since 2006 and worked with Sento before that. He replaces Bob Bench. Innuity is a software as a service company that helps small businesses market, promote and sell their products and services.
The Cobalt Group, a Seattle-based provider of marketing services to the automotive industry, hired Julie Wainwright as executive vice president and general manager of its Dealix Division. Wainwright was the CEO of Bellamax and has been recognized as one of the top women in technology by The San Francisco Business Times.
Vida Wellness Spa, a luxury spa in Vancouver and Whistler, B.C., will open its first U.S. location in Seattle as part of the Pan Pacific Seattle Hotel in Vulcan's 2200 complex. The 7,000-square-foot spa will open in January 2008.
Woodinville Wine Country, a group of wineries dedicated to bringing tourism to Woodinville, hired Cynthia Dasté as executive director. Dasté operated her own wine consulting firm and has worked with the Auction of Washington Wines and the Washington Wine Commission.
Everett-based Intermec hired Barry Issberner as vice president, global marketing. Issberner was with the Nokia as vice president, global marketing. Intermec develops, manufactures and integrates chain asset technologies.
