Seattle-based Clipper Navigation hired Darci Haustveit as controller. Haustveit will be responsible for Clipper's U.S. and Canadian accounting functions. Clipper Navigation is the operator of Clipper Vacations, the Victoria Clipper vessels and Destination Services Northwest.
Mark Green, chief operating officer for Seattle Public Schools, has been chosen by the University of Washington's School of Medicine as its new director of business affairs. Green has been with SPS for 11 years.
Neah Power Systems promoted David Wine to vice president of development. Wine was director of cell and stack development. Neah Power Systems is a Bothell-based developer of fuel cells for military applications, notebook computers and portable electronic devices.
Dorsey & Whitney lawyers Alexander Baehr and Carllene Placide have been named to the Washington State Minority and Justice Commission's Technical Support Group. Baehr and Placide are partners in the Seattle office's Labor and Employment Practice. Dorsey & Whitney employs 650 lawyers on three continents.
The Seattle office of law firm Foster Pepper hired Kellie Gronski and Emanuel Jacobowitz. Gronski is in the Real Estate Practice Group and was a former associate at Wells, Love & Scoby in Boulder, Colo. Jacobowitz is an associate in the Litigation Practice Group and worked at Steptoe & Johnson in Washington, D.C. Foster Pepper has offices in Seattle, Spokane and Portland.
Colliers Advanced Technology Real Estate Group has added two members to its team. Chris McDougall, formerly the managing director of corporate development for Colliers' CMN, Inc., has joined as senior account manager. Drew Kossen, a 2007 University of Washington graduate, will be an associate broker. ATREG helps companies buy and sell advanced technology assets and has represented more than $1 billion in transactions since 2000.
The July 26 meeting of REAPS (Real Estate Association of Puget Sound) will be on “Asset Protection & Tax-Advantaged Estate Planning,” with lawyer Rick Gregorek of Real Wealth Advisors as the guest speaker. The event runs from 7 to 10 p.m., with networking at 6:15 p.m. It will be in Kane Hall on the University of Washington campus. Cost is $15 for the public and it is free for REAPS members. Marcus & Millichap brokers handled the sale of land in the town of Pacific at 100 County Line Road S.W. for $535,000. The buyer is Charles Turbak and the seller is Viola Beslow. Mike Morgan and Dino Christophilis of Marcus & Millichap represented the seller.
The July 18 meeting of the National Association of Office and Industrial Properties will be on “Five Completed Projects: The Stories Behind the Buildings.” It will be held at the Bell Harbor Conference Center in Seattle starting at 7 a.m. with registration.
