Calidora Skin Clinic

Calidora Skin Clinic, a skin care treatment center, has raised $4 million to expand its Pacific Northwest chain of clinics into additional markets, beginning with Southern California. It plans to expand to Manhattan Beach, Marina Del Ray and Glendale, Calif. It has four Pacific Northwest locations in downtown Seattle, University Village, Redmond and Bellevue.

SonoSite

SonoSite of Bothell, an ultrasound company, hired Marcus Y. Smith as vice president, corporate development. Smith was at Philips Medical Systems.

K&L Gates

Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Preston Gates Ellis said Fredric C. Tausend was honored at the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference with the 2007 John P. Frank Award. The award recognized his 50-year legal career practicing in the federal courts of the western United States. Tausend is the only Seattle lawyer to receive the award.

Star Moving Systems

Tacoma-based Star Moving Systems has relocated from its Woodinville location to a new facility in Redmond at 23060 N.E. 102nd St. The new warehouse has 2,000 square feet of office space and 30,000 square feet of warehouse space. It is on 3.5 acres of property. Star Moving Systems moves household goods, electronics and office equipment. It is an agent for United Van Lines.

Scott Weller has been named president of Seattle-based Cequint, a developer of caller ID technology for wireless phones. Weller was at Research in Motion.

Ashley Gardens

Ashley Gardens of Mount Vernon, an Alzheimer's and dementia care community, named Kathy Kajfas the business office manager. Kajfas has 15 years of experience in office management.

Municipal League of King County

The Municipal League of King County hired Saul X. Ettlin as full-time director. Ettlin has worked at nonprofit organizations like the Sustainability Network in Toronto, the Oregon Bus Project and The Oregon League of Conservation Voters. The Municipal League conducts annual evaluations of candidates for public office, studies policy issues throughout King County and hosts events around the region to involve citizens in government.

Bellevue-based GoAhead Software promoted Dr. Asif Naseem to president and chief operating officer. At GoAhead, he has shaped a team of experts to solve complex availability and management requirements. GoAhead is an open standards-based availability and systems management operating company.

REAPS meeting on property exchanges

“Benefits and Pitfalls of Tax Deferred Property Exchanges” is the topic of the Aug. 23 monthly program of REAPS (Real Estate Association of Puget Sound). The speaker is Ann McLaren of LandAmerica.
