Seattle-based Blankslate, a full-service branding and design agency, hired Jeff Barlow as creative director. Barlow has 15 years experience and has worked with clients ranging from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to WaMu.
The Partners Group, a Portland-based financial advisory employee benefits and insurance brokerage firm, hired Sarah Friend as an employee benefits consultant. Friend worked for 11 years with an Oregon health plans.
Arlington-based CheckSum hired Steve Broderick as director of Asia operations. He will be based in Shanghai. Broderick spent the last 10 years as a test technologist in Asia for different manufacturers. CheckSum is a supplier of circuit board test and ISP device programming solutions.
The Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs hired Richard H. Cesler as the veterans cemetery administrator for the Eastern Washington State Veterans Cemetery. Cesler has been director of the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery since 2005. The cemetery has yet to be built and the department will start considering design firms for the project once Cesler is on site.




Mike Roberts joined Bellevue construction management firm KBA as a senior program manager. Roberts has 20 years of construction management experience and is a licensed engineer. He has led major bridge, transit and highway projects for numerous local municipalities.
Jim Yowan is heading up Mortenson's Pacific Northwest operations. Yowan is a 17-year veteran of the company and has worked on projects such as the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.
