McKinley Irvin

McKinley Irvin, a Seattle-based family law firm, hired Shiva Eliza Tayebi as an associate attorney. Tayebi worked in New York City and New Jersey as a contract attorney.

UW Tacoma

The University of Washington Tacoma hired Joseph Lawless as the first executive director of the Milgard School of Business' Center for Corporate Leadership & Social Responsibility. Lawless graduated from the UW Tacoma with a Master of Business Administration in June and was the executive director of the Mary Bridge Children's Foundation.

Galvin Flying Services

The Aerospace Training Center at Honolulu Community College has selected Galvin Flying Services of Seattle as flight training provider. Galvin Flying Services provides training in technologically advanced aircraft and is based at Boeing Field. Honolulu Community College is part of the University of Hawaii system.

King County Superior Court

Gov. Chris Gregoire announced the appointment of Susan J. Craighead of Seattle to the King County Superior Court. Craighead will fill the position vacated by Judge Michael Spearman. Craighead has been a commissioner for the Washington state Court of Appeals since 2002.

Andersen Bjornstad Kane Jacobs has made two new hires. Mohammad Alhassan joins the building department after earning his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Chicago and Burton Reanier joins the civil sitework department after six years at Skagit County Public Works.

ALSC Architects of Spokane made two new hires. Todd Ovnicek, who has 18 years of experience in the architecture and construction industry, was hired as a construction management specialist. He is working on Spokane's Hospice House and the Kiona-Benton City High School. Architect Francie Hankins was also hired, and is working on ALSC's team for the new University of Idaho Sandpoint campus.

Ruffcorn Mott Hinthorne Stine made three new hires. Alan Davis and Steve Doub have been hired as project architects and Jovanna Quintanar has been hired as administrative assistant.

Callison hired Jorge Sciupac as a director in the Los Angeles office. Sciupac has more than 20 years of experience in mixed-use, hospitality, residential, retail and commercial design projects including the Ritz-Carlton Huntington Hotel in Pasadena, Calif., and the Wilshire Vermont in Los Angeles, Calif.

Roth Hill Engineering Partners

Roth Hill Engineering Partners in Bellevue added 11 new staff members and promoted several others. The company hired Ryan Brady as project engineer, Jay Gibson as an engineering specialist, Bobby Lane as staff accountant, Amy Matsumoto as marketing coordinator, Wes Vasquez as office assistant, Rosie Puccio as office clerk and Carl Fujitani in support of IT operations. Paul Weller was hired to support engineering and GIS functions; Nicole Taylor joined the planning practice and supports permitting, annexations and SEPA compliance; Ken Haines was hired as a senior project technician; and Pavel Lurie was hired as a survey technician in the land surveying practice. The company also announced promotions: Dawn Gonzales was promoted to office administrator, Eilean Davis was promoted to senior project technician and environmental specialist and Brandon Luke was promoted to project technician.
