Sparling

Sparling hired R. Robert Bell as design technology manager in the firm's IT department. Bell will provide strategic direction, technical oversight and support for Sparling's enterprise design and production technology systems, focusing on virtual building design technologies such as 3D and building information modeling. Bell is working closely with Autodesk to help improve Revit MEP.

ALSC Architects

ALSC Architects of Spokane hired Ken Jeffrey as a construction administration specialist.  He is also an instructor at Spokane Community College and was previously employed with Spokane County's Division of Building and Planning. The company hired Tina Johansen, an NCIDQ certified interior designer. Johansen was previously an assistant professor of interior design at Washington State University.

Schreiber Starling & Lane Architects

Schreiber Starling & Lane Architects promoted Ross Whitehead to associate principal. In his eight years with the firm, Whitehead served as lead on public projects including Readiness Centers for the Army National Guard at Yakima, Bremerton and Fort Lewis, and projects at Central Washington University. Whitehead led the project team for the Science & Allied Health Building at Skagit Valley College in Mount Vernon. Whitehead is currently leading the project team on the Allied Health Building at Lake Washington Technical College and completing planning for the renovation of the Automotive Training Center at Renton Technical College.

Thomas Hacker Architects

Portland's Thomas Hacker Architects hired Hilary Campbell, Michael Kiser, Angie Lawless and Scott Mooney. Campbell spent many years working abroad in London and Hong Kong and her project experience is in high-end residential, commercial and urban design. Campbell is working on a theater and creative arts complex for the Menlo School in Atherton, Calif. Kiser served on the team for the University of Washington Tacoma's Phase 3 expansion and is job captain for the Parkside Branch Library in San Francisco. Lawless is marketing coordinator. Lawless has more than 13 years of experience in marketing for architectural firms. Mooney, a LEED accredited professional, is part of the design team for the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Visitor's Center. Mooney won first place from the Cascadia Chapter of the Green Building Council for his design of Oregon's first LEED certified Habitat for Humanity home.

Quantum Consulting Engineers

Quantum Consulting Engineers hired Perry Welch, Taesan Hose and Erika Hansen as project engineers. Welch began working for Quantum while he completed his B.S. degree in civil engineering from the University of Washington. Hose also has a B.S. in civil engineering from the UW and more than a year of experience designing residential structures. Hansen has a B.A. in physics from Carleton College and a M.S. in civil engineering from the University of California at Davis. All are working on residential and commercial projects.

ESM

ESM has appointed Rick Foxworthy as branch manager of its Bothell office. Foxworthy serves as principal and director of surveys for the Bothell and Ellensburg offices. He is a registered land surveyor and has been with ESM for eight years.

Baylis Architects

Baylis Architects promoted Roger Oakdale and Kevin J. Cleary to associates. Oakdale has more than 25 years of experience in management and technical and design consulting. He specializes in large mixed-use projects, including sports complexes, hospitals, municipal facilities, churches and industrial complexes. His past projects include the Helix, Ellipse and Landes mixed-use projects. Cleary has more than 12 years of experience in urban mixed-use projects and is working on the Northgate mixed-use complex.

DLR Group

Design firm DLR Group hired architectural intern Jonathan Bahe, electrical engineer Scott Gore, marketing professionals Fred VonDerLage and Jill Sten, and administrative support staff Sarah Gregg and Brynna Halbett.

Landau Associates

Landau Associates hired Jessica Hayden-Spear, Don Ereaux and Jon Fox in its Edmonds office. Hayden-Spear, staff fisheries biologist, has more than a decade of research experience in marine and freshwater biology, and is working on fish habitat impacts. Ereaux was hired as a technician to oversee field and vehicle support duties and assist with soil lab testing and computer network needs. Fox was hired as a senior staff scientist and GIS technician and has five years of experience conducting environmental site assessments for Coast Guard facilities. Landau also promoted Jessica Kruczek, Ed Heavey, Kristin Hooper, Linda Naoi Goetz, Mario Lopez Ramos, Kathryn Hartley, David Nelson and Shannon Moore. Kruczek is in the firm's Portland office and has been promoted to senior project engineer. Heavey was promoted to principal geotechnical engineer in the firm's Tacoma office. Hooper, also in the Tacoma office, was promoted to staff geologist. Naoi Goetz was promoted to associate. Lopez Ramos was promoted to senior staff engineer. Hartley was promoted to senior staff scientist. Nelson was promoted to senior staff geologist and works on real-estate due diligence assessments and environmental investigations. Moore was promoted to senior scientist. Working out of the Tri-Cities area, Moore is helping the firm grow in eastern Washington.

Vcfo

The Seattle office of Vcfo hired David Chandler as a CFO associate. Chandler has worked as chief operating officer of Straitshot Communications, chief financial officer of Stellar One Corp. and vice president of Advanced Radio Telecom. Vcfo is a provider of financial and human resources services.

Society of American Foresters

The Washington State Society of American Foresters named Gretchen Nicholas, senior manager at the State Department of Natural Resources, the 2007 State Forester of the Year. The award is given annually in recognition of service and dedication to the forestry profession. Nicholas has worked with the agency since 1996.

Port of Seattle

The Port of Seattle hired Kurt Beckett as external affairs director. Beckett has been chief of staff for U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell since 2004 and her deputy chief of staff since 2001.
