The Mechanical Contractors Association of Western Washington elected its board of directors for 2008-09. The board includes: Steve Stirrett of Stirrett-Johnsen, president; Jack Cheetham of McKinstry Co., vice president; Mike Shinn of Shinn Mechanical, secretary/treasurer; David Thoday of Auburn Mechanical, outgoing president; and Jerry Bush of University Mechanical Contractors, trustee. Brian Garvey, the association’s executive vice president, continues in his 28th year on the board.

Earth Class Mail

Seattle-based Earth Class Mail, a global service that delivers postal mail online, hired Rajeev Dujari as vice president of product management. Dujari worked at Microsoft for 15 years and was an inventor on 12 issued patents while at the company.

Kibble & Prentice

Kibble & Prentice, an insurance and financial services company, hired Angie Tonnon as vice president in the Commercial Insurance Division.

Port of Longview

The Port of Longview announced three staff appointments. Norm Krehbiel, port director of facilities and engineering, will now also be deputy executive director. Valerie Harris has been promoted from manager of business development to director of marketing upon the retirement of Gary Lindstrom in May. Ashley Opsahl-Scibelli is manager of communications and public affairs. She worked with PNE Corp.

Foster Pepper

The Seattle office of law firm Foster Pepper announced Ron Whitener, of counsel in the firm's Native American Legal Services Group, has been appointed chief judge for the Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis. He will decide both criminal and civil legal cases, and manage the administration of the tribes' judicial system.

APCO Worldwide

Washington, D.C.-based APCO Worldwide hired Kristi England and Heidi Hall in its Seattle office. England is a senior associate and has 14 years experience in public affairs and community relations. She recently helped launch the Seattle Climate Action Now initiative. Hall, who is a manager, worked with Vander Houwen Public Relations for seven years. APCO is a global communication consultancy with offices around the world.

Bird Construction (USA)

Poggemann
Bird Construction (USA) promoted Charlie Poggemann to branch manager of the Issaquah office. Poggemann joined Bird in 2001 as a project manager and was most recently production manager on the Cabela’s project in Lacey.

Mortenson Construction

Gunkel
Mortenson Construction promoted Tom Gunkel to chief executive officer and president at the corporate headquarters in Minneapolis. Gunkel, a 25-year veteran of the firm, served the past seven years as president and chief operating officer. He joined the firm as an estimator after obtaining a bachelor’s degree in construction management from the University of Wisconsin.

Masonry Institute of Washington

The Masonry Institute of Washington and the Washington State Conference of Mason Contractors hired Thomas Papas as executive director. Papas has more than 20 years of construction association experience.

IBA Consultants

Kevin Nolan joined the new Seattle forensic division of IBA Consultants as forensic senior consultant. In addition to forensic consulting on existing buildings, Nolan provides new construction plan review consulting services for mid-rise wood-frame structures. He has more than 20 years of construction industry experience and is a member of the Seattle Building Envelope Council. IBA is a building envelope consulting firm.
