Arbor Village, a continuing care retirement community in Kent, named Teresa Russell as community relations director for the campus. Russell has 15 years of experience in the rental housing industry. Arbor Village is owned and operated by Cascade Living Group.
PayNorthwest in Seattle hired Ron Thompson as employer services advisor. Thompson was chief operations officer for a Seattle-based financial services firm.
Seattle-based Silver Creek Capital Management hired Gideon Nieuwoudt as a managing director in July. Nieuwoudt will help Silver Creek open a London office to expand research and increase coverage of global hedge fund managers in the summer of 2008. Nieuwoudt was head of European and Asia research for Union Bancaire Privée Alternative Investments. Silver Creek is a fund of hedge funds management firm with offices in Seattle and New York.
Bellevue-based Baldwin Resource Group hired Steve Carver as an account executive in its insurance division. Baldwin specializes in insurance, risk management, business consulting and wealth management services.



Cary Kopczynski, president of Cary Kopczynski & Co. in Bellevue, will serve as a judge for the 2008 National Concrete Canoe Competition, which will be held June 19-21 in Montreal. Kopczynski was a judge in last year's event at the University of Washington. Civil engineering students design, build and race concrete canoes in the competition.
Northwest Energy Star Homes announced the winners of its second annual awards. Washington state winners included: New Tradition Homes of Vancouver for Regional Home Builder of the Year and Washington Large Home Builder of the Year; Scott Homes of Olympia for Washington Small Home Builder of the Year; and O'Brien & Co. of Seattle for Regional Verifier of the Year. Palmer Homes of Bend won Oregon Large Home Builder of the Year and Vision Homes of Medford won Oregon Small Home Builder of the Year. Kingdom Builders of Missoula won Montana Home Builder of the Year and Capitol Building Co. of Eagle won Idaho Home Builder of the Year. McCall Development of Billings, Mont., won Regional Development of the Year.
