Arbor Village

Arbor Village, a continuing care retirement community in Kent, named Teresa Russell as community relations director for the campus. Russell has 15 years of experience in the rental housing industry. Arbor Village is owned and operated by Cascade Living Group.

PayNorthwest

PayNorthwest in Seattle hired Ron Thompson as employer services advisor. Thompson was chief operations officer for a Seattle-based financial services firm.

Silver Creek Capital Management

Seattle-based Silver Creek Capital Management hired Gideon Nieuwoudt as a managing director in July. Nieuwoudt will help Silver Creek open a London office to expand research and increase coverage of global hedge fund managers in the summer of 2008. Nieuwoudt was head of European and Asia research for Union Bancaire Privée Alternative Investments. Silver Creek is a fund of hedge funds management firm with offices in Seattle and New York.

Baldwin Resource Group

Bellevue-based Baldwin Resource Group hired Steve Carver as an account executive in its insurance division. Baldwin specializes in insurance, risk management, business consulting and wealth management services.

Puget Sound Concrete Specification Council

Marks
Andrew Marks, managing director of the Puget Sound Concrete Specification Council, has been nominated for the Distinguished Partner Award with the Portland Cement Association's Promotion Progress Awards Program. The award recognizes those who promote cement and concrete in construction markets and participate in standards development, education and public affairs. Marks also is vice president of the local American Concrete Institute chapter and is a member of the Construction Specification Institute and the American Society for Testing of Materials. He is a registered professional civil engineer and holds a master's degree in engineering from the University of Idaho.

Sevigny
Mayes Testing Engineers hired Shaun Sevigny as branch manager for its Tacoma office. Sevigny has seven years of management experience with organizations performing multidiscipline engineering services including special inspection and testing, geotechnical engineering and environmental engineering. He is responsible for managing the branch's laboratory, field inspectors and local projects.

MacKay & Sposito

Young
Andrew Young of MacKay & Sposito joined the board of directors of the Southwest Washington Chapter of the American Red Cross. Young is a project manager in the public sector project team at MacKay & Sposito. He is a professional engineer and served for eight years as a combat engineer in the military. MacKay & Sposito provides civil engineering, land and construction surveying, land-use planning, landscape architecture and construction management services. It has offices in Vancouver, Kennewick, and Wilsonville, Ore.

Cary Kopczynski & Co.

Cary Kopczynski, president of Cary Kopczynski & Co. in Bellevue, will serve as a judge for the 2008 National Concrete Canoe Competition, which will be held June 19-21 in Montreal. Kopczynski was a judge in last year's event at the University of Washington. Civil engineering students design, build and race concrete canoes in the competition.

Northwest Energy Star Homes

Northwest Energy Star Homes announced the winners of its second annual awards. Washington state winners included: New Tradition Homes of Vancouver for Regional Home Builder of the Year and Washington Large Home Builder of the Year; Scott Homes of Olympia for Washington Small Home Builder of the Year; and O'Brien & Co. of Seattle for Regional Verifier of the Year. Palmer Homes of Bend won Oregon Large Home Builder of the Year and Vision Homes of Medford won Oregon Small Home Builder of the Year. Kingdom Builders of Missoula won Montana Home Builder of the Year and Capitol Building Co. of Eagle won Idaho Home Builder of the Year. McCall Development of Billings, Mont., won Regional Development of the Year.
