Walsh Construction Co. promoted several employees in its Portland and Seattle offices. In Seattle, Tom Mathews has become vice president of construction, where he is focusing on preconstruction, estimating, scheduling, green/sustainable construction, technology, QA/QC and other construction processes. In Portland, Andrew Beyer, another new vice president, is focusing on strategic planning, marketing, business development, client and community relations, and government issues. Bill Reid is now vice president and general manager of Walsh Construction Co./Washington in Seattle, where he is managing the firm’s activities in Washington. Mike Steffen took on the same role for Walsh Construction Co./Oregon, based in Portland. Larry Robertson moved from senior project manager to chief estimator in the Portland office, where he is responsible for estimating construction projects throughout Oregon and southwest Washington.

UtilX Corp.

Kent-based UtilX Corp., an online cable condition assessment service, hired John Connolly as president and CEO. Connolly recently worked at Coe Manufacturing in Portland. He replaced Tom Van Horn, who joined InfrastruX Group, the construction services holding company of which UtilX is a subsidiary, as an executive vice president for strategy, technology and business development.

Nyhus Communications

Nyhus Communications hired Megan Kahn as vice president of public relations, Michelle Craig as director of public relations and Robert Julavits as head of new media and content services. Kahn has 18 years of experience in public relations and corporate communications and is co-founder of technology company Infoflows Corp. Craig worked at Lewis PR. Julavits has 15 years of communications experience and worked at Citigroup in New York City.

Food Services of America

Food Services of America, the nation's sixth largest broadline food service distributor, hired Randy Irvine as president of the Seattle branch. Irvine has been president of the Portland branch since 2001 and has 30 years experience in the food service business. He replaces Greg Hall who has worked at FSA for 22 years.

InfoSpace

Bellevue-based InfoSpace, a developer of metasearch products, hired William Lansing as president, chief executive officer and member of the board. Lansing was recently president and CEO of Value Vision Media. He succeeds Jim Voelker, who will retire after working with the company for six years. Voelker will remain as board chairman through 2010.

Zpizza

Zpizza, a pizza chain based in Newport Beach, Calif., has finalized a contract with franchisee Ritu Shah-Burnham to open three new restaurants in Seattle. Zpizza has 87 open stores and 400 more locations in development across the U.S., the Middle East and Mexico. Shah-Burnham is looking for real estate in downtown Seattle and plans to target North Seattle and Bellevue for her next two locations. She hopes to open her first location this summer.

Rushing hired Gaurav Mehta as a senior energy analyst and Shane Reimer as a mechanical project engineer. Before joining the building modeling group at Rushing, Mehta worked as a green building consultant. He is providing building modeling services for Seattle University's new fitness center and code compliance calculations for the Othello high-rise condominium in Seattle. Reimer is working on the Fairview Research Facility, Seattle University's new Alumni & Admissions building, and the Olive 8 high-rise mixed-use building.

BCRA hired Mary Valmonte as senior project manager and health care planner. Valmonte has 19 years of experience in the planning, architecture and interior design of medical facilities, including Swedish Medical Center, Central Washington Hospital, and the Department of Veterans Affairs Puget Sound Healthcare System.

Sparling promoted Jack Glover to associate, Sandy Peron to marketing communications manager and Lindsey Gilmore to project manager. Glover has been with Sparling for more than 12 years. He specializes in management and design of electrical systems projects for healthcare facilities. He is managing projects for Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee and Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Peron will be responsible for analyzing strategic business and marketing objectives, and training staff. Gilmore came to Sparling six years ago and her recent projects include the Lincoln Square Office Tower, Bellevue Place Hyatt, Microsoft tenant improvements at Lincoln Square and Sacred Heart Medical Center RiverBend Campus in Springfield, Ore. She is managing the Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital Children's Village and two tenant improvements in Seattle.

Olympic Associates promoted 11 employees. Lee Dunham, Court Olson, Steven Paget, David Petersen and Derek Rae were promoted to associates. Christian Gorry and Tony Kubik were promoted to senior building envelope specialists, Eric Richter to senior systems technician and Bob Schmitt to senior project manager. Tansy Tews and Peter Jones were promoted to project managers.
