Savor Seattle Food Tours

Savor Seattle Food Tours, a group that specializes in guided culinary walking tours of Pike Place Market and downtown Seattle, has launched a Coffee Bites & Sights Tour. The tour features coffee in everyday foods, award-winning barista art, specialty cocktails, Seattle coffee history and city attractions. It was designed by Angela Shen, founder of Food Tours. Swedish Neuroscience Institute

The Swedish Neuroscience Institute hired Dr. John Henson as director of neurology for the institute and co-director of the newly opened Center for Advanced Brain Tumor Treatment. Henson is the former executive director of Massachusetts General Hospital Brain Tumor Center in Boston. He has more than 20 years of experience in neurology and neuro-oncology.

AMRI

Albany, N.Y.-based AMRI has completed the relocation of its Bothell research unit into about 44,000 square feet of newly refurbished laboratory and office space nearby. The new site provides capacity for growth.

Intiman Theatre

Intiman Theatre's board of trustees elected a new slate of officers. Kim Anderson is president and replaces past president Susan Leavitt. Other new board officers for the 2009 season are president elect Bruce Bradburn, treasurer Paul Lawrence and secretary Bradley Tong.

Washington State University

Washington State University's College of Business, in partnership with the Center for Distance and Professional Education, is launching an online MBA program beginning fall semester. The program initially will be available for part-time enrollment, and in fall of 2010 for full-time and part-time enrollment. It will consist of 39 semester credit hours and is comparable to WSU's accelerated one-year MBA on the Pullman campus.

Coldwell Banker Bain

Coldwell Banker Bain is launching a new division serving three market segments: new construction marketing, commercial real estate and residential property management. It will be headed by Michael Waggoner. Waggoner was managing broker of the Bellevue Central office. The company also is moving its corporate headquarters from Mercer Island to its office at 12721 Bel-Red Road. The CBBain training center will relocate to Yarrow Bay Office Park after five years at Hidden Valley.

Coast Real Estate Services

Ceedee Felton of Coast Real Estate Services was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the National Council for Affordable and Rural Housing. Colleen Fisher, executive director for CARH, praised her service to the affordable housing industry. Felton manages a portfolio of affordable housing properties in King and Snohomish counties for Coast.

Housing industry legislative update

An analysis of the 2009 legislative session will be offered on May 21 at MBA University, 335 116th Ave. S.E. in Bellevue from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $45 for members of MBAKS or SKCAR and $55 for non-members. Registration is available at http://www.Masterbuildersinfo.com or by calling Kristen Parker at (425) 460-8231. The panel will analyze the impact of the Legislature on real estate in the state. The panelists will be Scott Hildebrand of Master Builders of King and Snohomish Counties, Sam Pace of Seattle King County Association of Realtors and Kevin Kalberg of the East King County Chamber of Commerce Legislative Coalition. They will look at revenue shortfalls, economic stimulus packages, consumer protection and climate change legislation.

CREW

CREW Seattle will meet Thursday May 14 at the Washington Athletic Club to hear a speech by Bill Krippaehne, founder of North Pacific Realty and past managing director of Triad Development, talk about turning the former Public Safety Building site into a new civic square. The architects are London-based Foster + Partners and Seattle-based GGLO. The plan calls for open space, retail, a light rail station, and a 42-story office and residential tower.
