Steve Price, community development manager for the city of Bellingham and a community development consultant, is joining forces with architect Dave Christensen to form a new firm. Price Christensen & Associates will help property owners and developers create projects. They will specialize in the conception and design of projects, and help with community support, securing financing and marketing. Price has owned a community development strategy firm, Front Street Partnership LLC, for six years and will continue to do planning through that firm. Christensen will continue to offer limited design services through Christensen Design Management. They will have offices in Bellingham and San Francisco.
Vulcan Real Estate and Runberg Architecture Group said Borealis Apartments in Seattle won a Gold Nugget Award for Outstanding Affordable Housing Project at the Pacific Coast Builders Conference. Judges cited the project for addressing both affordability and sustainability. W.G. Clark Construction was the general contractor.
GVA Kidder Mathews said Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lyon received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2009 Award in the Financial Services & Real Estate category in the Pacific Northwest. He is eligible for the Entrepreneur Of The Year national program.
Wells Fargo & Co. closed a $25 million Fannie Mae loan for the acquisition of Waterford at the Lakes apartment complex in Kent. The loan carries a 10-year term.
Cooper Point Village, a six-building Rite Aid complex at Cooper Point Road and Harrison Avenue in Olympia, recently sold its last building of 7,880 square feet. The project began in 2005, and totals 54,800 square feet. Evan Parker and Amy Robinson of GVA Kidder Mathews represented Gramor Development of Washington in selling four of the six buildings for $6.3 million.
Lovsted- Worthington hired Susan Knobeloch as director of personal lines operations. Knobeloch was a principal and manager of personal lines departments for more than 29 years. She was past president of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of Washington, past president of the Tacoma Pierce County Insurance Professionals, served on the National Council of Kemper and has served on councils for Safeco, Fireman's Fund and Insurance Commissioner for Washington.
The Puget Sound affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure hired Cheryl Shaw as executive director. Shaw has been working with outgoing executive director Mona Locke during the transition. Locke will be joining her husband, Gary Locke, who is now secretary of commerce in Washington, D. C. Shaw was with the United Negro College Fund.
The Central District Forum for Arts & Ideas' hired Kumani Gantt as executive director following a national search. Gantt has been the executive and artistic director of The Village of Arts and Humanities in North Philadelphia. She succeeds founder Stephanie Ellis-Smith who held the post for a decade.
