Pacific Fishermen Shipyard and Electric hired longtime employee Jeremy McWirter as electrical division manager. Following Pacific Fishermen's purchase of Lunde Electric Co. in 2004, McWirter has served as UL certified panel shop manager at the Pacific Fishermen Shipyard.
Local coffee company Fonte Coffee Roaster will open a cafe and wine bar this summer at the Four Seasons Hotel Seattle. Fonte is owned by Paul Odom. Tysan Dutta, previously sommelier and a manager for the Herb Farm, will work there. Fonte also hired Dismas Smith as a barista.
The Just the Beginning Foundation, a multi-racial nonprofit dedicated to nurturing interest in the law among young people from underrepresented groups, will hold the fourth of five summer legal institutes from July 27-31. Thirty diverse high school students will attend the event at the University of Washington School of Law. The five-day program features classroom lectures, logic and critical-thinking exercises.
Northwest Hospital & Medical Center hired Teresa Wagner as a board certified specialist in pulmonary and critical care medicine. She is joining Northwest Respiratory Associates in North Seattle. Wagner will also be working in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital.
Dykeman, an Everett design firm, has named architect
Kelli Smith principal, giving her an ownership role. Architect
Michael Stevens has been promoted to associate. Smith, director of the firm's Interior Design studio, has worked with Peoples Bank of Lynden, and on K-12 facilities in Washington. She assists in developing educational specifications for schools in the Everett district. She serves on the Darrington Library Board and Planning Commission. Stevens has worked on a variety of projects including public, retail/mixed-use, educational, residential, and civic assignments. He is working on the Snohomish district's Valley View Middle School, which is targeting Living Building sustainability standards. He's also working on a mixed-use master planning project in Snohomish County.
Dee Gilmore has joined Berger ABAM as construction inspector. She has worked as a road construction inspector and as resident engineer for the King County Department of Transportation. She is working on the Northeast 36th Street Bridge for the city of Redmond and the Lincoln Avenue grade separation for the Port of Tacoma.
Bob Lee has joined the firm as construction specialist in the public works and transportation group. He has worked for the state Department of Transportation and Pierce and King counties. For King County, he ran a Tolt Bridge replacement project and worked on Novelty and Edgewick bridge replacements.
Seattle-based DKA has hired
Jill Kurfirst. She is on the Owners' Representation Group as project manager for the Seattle Schools' Building Excellence Program. She is managing construction for the new addition to Nathan Hale High School. Trained as an architect, she has worked in real estate development and architecture firms on office, retail and housing.
Danielle Henderson is AIA Seattle's new program associate. She will manage the 2,000-member chapter's office operations, including registration, Web site management and AIA Seattle's public gallery. Most recently, she was editor of Apartment Therapy San Francisco, an online community focused on interior design. She also worked as a marketing specialist for Pyramid Communications and managed the volunteer and internship programs, grants and employee recruitment at One Reel. She assists with guest relations for the Seattle International Film Festival, and manages public relations and customer service radio dispatch for Bumbershoot. She replaces
Brad Barnett, who has been accepted to graduate school at the University of Texas at Austin's School of Architecture.
