Western Washington Fair Association

Dan McClung was elected to the Western Washington Fair Association board of directors. McClung is taking the position that has been filled by Thomas Tebb, who is moving to emeritus status. The 12-member board manages the Puyallup Spring Fair, Puyallup Fair Foundation Scholarship Dinner/Auction, Puyallup Fair and Oktoberfest.

Cascadia Community College

Dr. William Christopher, president of Cascadia Community College, said he will retire June 30. Chrisopher came to Cascadia in July of 2005 when the college was five years old. The board appointed trustee Michael Martino to chair the Presidential Search Committee and expects to select a search consultant in early February.

Sandusky Radio

Bellevue's Sandusky Radio hired Karly Smaciarz as marketing and promotion director for MOViN' 92.5 and AM 880 KIXI. Smaciarz has 10 years of radio experience in the Seattle market.

NAI Puget Sound Properties named Billy Moultrie, Bob Swain and John Werdel principals. Moultrie specializes in the industrial sector, focusing on the South King and Pierce County markets. Swain focuses on investments, and industrial and flex properties. Werdel works with tenants, property owners and investors in the Seattle and Eastside markets.

Milestone Properties

Altom
Rhoda L. Altom, president of Milestone Properties, was awarded the Washington State University Alumni Association Alumni Achievement Award for her professional and philanthropic work. She was first woman to graduate from WSU's construction management program, and joined Wright Runstad & Co. Altom later founded Milestone, which oversees a portfolio of properties across the country. After her daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumor, Altom founded the Pediatric Brain Tumor Research Fund. She established the Pediatric Epilepsy Foundation at the University of Washington after her son was diagnosed with epilepsy. She also has done philanthropic work for the YWCA, Northwest School, Cornish College of the Arts and Health Team Northwest. She and her husband, Cory Carlson, established the Altom+Carlson Foundation to support various organizations.

Jones Lang LaSalle

Corey Marx and Seth Heikkila have joined Jones Lang LaSalle's multifamily investment sales practice in Seattle. The new vice presidents will work with Managing Director David Young to expand the company's presence in what Jones Lang LaSalle officials say is one of the top apartment markets in the country.

Seattle Mortgage Bankers Association

Joe Garrett and Mike McAuley of San Francisco-based Garrett, Watts & Co., will speak at SMBA's 5:30 p.m. Feb. 23 dinner meeting at Broadmoor Golf Club, 2340 Broadmoor Drive E., Seattle. They will discuss why mortgage lenders did well in 2009 while banks struggled, and share ideas about increasing revenues and controlling costs through loan pricing, credit lines, loan officer commission matrixes and staff compensation. CREW meeting on Othello Station TOD

The Feb. 11 meeting of CREW will be about the Station at Othello Park, a 420,000-square-foot transit-oriented development now under construction near a Sound Transit rail station in South Seattle. The event will be at the Washington Athletic Club, 1325 Sixth Ave., starting at 11:30 a.m. with registration. Seminar on real estate joint ventures

Law Seminars International will hold a two-day conference on “Real Estate Joint Ventures and Funds” Feb. 8 and 9 at the Renaissance Seattle Hotel. Frause

Seattle-based communications firm Frause recently announced four internal promotions and one new hire. Sue Gillespie was promoted to senior vice president. Krista Hildebrand, managing director of Frause's Portland office, was promoted to vice president. Laura Figueroa was promoted to vice president. Nicole Phelan was promoted to account supervisor. Frause hired Amy Graham as assistant account executive. Graham graduated from the University of Washington in December of 2009.

Twisted Cork and STIR

Twisted Cork and STIR Martini + Raw Bar named Erik Carlson executive chef of both venues. Carlson has worked at Chandler's Crab House, Tap House Bar & Grill and at the Arnies restaurants. Twisted Cork is in the Hyatt Regency Bellevue. STIR is in the Bellevue Place Wintergarden.

Washington Campus Compact

Washington Campus Compact hired Lisa Jacobsen as the grant manager to manage the Retention Project, an AmeriCorps program. The Retention Project's AmeriCorps members are placed on 13 campuses across Washington to recruit college students who would serve as mentors to junior high school and high school students. Jacobsen has more than 13 years of experience in managing programs.
