The Washington State Bar Association Young Lawyers Division announced Sarah Leyrer, an attorney in Moses Lake, has received the 2010 Outstanding Young Lawyer Award. Leyrer is being honored for her work in building the Columbia Legal Services office in Moses Lake. The nonprofit law firm represents people and organizations who have no other legal help available.
Pierce County Superior Court Judge Elizabeth Martin will receive the 2010 Washington Women Lawyers Passing the Torch Award, which honors mentoring. The award will be presented to Martin at the organization's annual state banquet on Oct. 8 in Spokane. She spent 27 years with Tacoma's Gordon Thomas Honeywell.
Bellevue-based Symetra Life Insurance Co. announced a new organizational structure in which a division has been created for each core business: retirement, life insurance and group insurance. Each division will be led by an executive vice president. Dan Guilbert will lead the Retirement Division. Michael Fry has been promoted to lead the Group Division. Symetra is conducting a search for an executive to lead the Life Division.
Wells Fargo & Co. announced Tim Sloan is chief administrative officer, a new position that reports directly to President and Chief Executive Officer John Stumpf. Sloan was head of Commercial Banking, Real Estate and Specialized Financial Services.

Bothell's EagleView Technologies formed a partnership with AnythingWeather Communications to help roofing contractors track storms and get accurate roof measurements. EagleView provides aerial 3-D roof measurements while Palm Desert, Calif.-based AnythingWeather provides real-time weather reporting.
HVAC software developer Optimum Energy received Seattle Business Magazine's Green Washington Award in the Technology category. The Seattle company's software helps reduce energy consumption in commercial buildings.
Bill Radke will return to the Pacific Northwest as host of Seattle's Morning News on KIRO-FM. Radke, a journalist, author, comedian and talk show host, is host of American Public Media's Marketplace Morning Report, a daily national newscast covering business and money. He was on KUOW-FM from 1991 to 2004, and was the local host of NPR's Morning Edition for seven years.
Technically Learning, a Seattle-based nonprofit, hired Myles Kahn as executive director. Kahn, an attorney and entrepreneur in technology, sports and entertainment, was formerly president of Somos Sports & Entertainment. Technically Learning works to improve math and science education through technology and other projects.
Everett attorney Kari Petrasek is the new 2010–11 president of the Washington State Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division. Petrasek focuses her practice on juvenile law, handling dependency and termination matters, and juvenile offender cases. She is a trustee and founding member of the Snohomish County Young Lawyers Division Board.
Holland America Line hired Meredith Lehr as director, legal and assistant general counsel. Lehr served as external counsel since 2006. Before joining Holland America, she worked with Univar USA.
Ogden Murphy Wallace, a multi speciality law firm with offices in Seattle and Wenatchee, hired Trevor Varnes as executive director. Varnes has 12 years of experience in business development and financial work. He will oversee all operational aspects of the law firm.
