Virginia Mason Medical Center hired two administrative directors. Betsy Braun is administrative director for facilities and is responsible for new design and construction work, including the Jones Pavilion, the Major Institution Master Plan and the management of leases and hotels. Braun was recently with HDR. Linda Stone is administrative director for Ambulatory Services and is responsible for all surgical areas and dermatology. Stone has 25 years of management experience, including 17 years at Boeing.
Jen Rittenhouse has joined JayRay, a communications consultancy, as a creative advisor. Rittenhouse recently worked as the keeper of all things marketing and communications for the Western Washington University Alumni Association.
Seattle-based sister brands InnerSea Discoveries and American Safari Cruises, announced Jeff Kalbach is master of InnerSea Discoveries' expedition ship Wilderness Adventurer, Debbie Reid is operations assistant to company CEO Dan Blanchard and Yin Chan is accounting and human resources clerk. Kalbach has 15 years experience as master and operations manager in the small ship cruise industry and recently served as master aboard private yacht Orion. Reid was director of operations at travel operator Orbridge. Chan was operations accountant at Cruise West.



The Washington Asphalt Paving Association presented Pierce County with the Best County Paving Project in Western Washington award for its 2009 asphalt overlay program. The award was shared by the county's paving contractor, Woodworth & Co. of Tacoma. The 2009 asphalt overlay program resurfaced 6.5 miles of county roadways. It's the third consecutive year that Pierce County has received the award.

Grosvenor Residential Investment Partners I LP and KeyCorp Fund Management Group are financing three residential projects in Seattle, San Diego and Washington, D.C. Locally, the fund provided a $4.2 million senior loan for the acquisition and development of 29 single-family lots in Brier, and will provide a $2.5 million construction revolver to construct the houses. The borrower is a local operator who has developed housing for more than 35 years.
Ron Peterson of NorthMarq Capital's Bellevue office arranged first mortgage financing of nearly $7.2 million for Stratford Arms Apartments, an 87-unit complex in Kent. Financing was based on a 10-year term with two years' interest-only followed by a 30-year amortization schedule.
Seattle-based Kennedy Associates Real Estate Counsel and the Canadian company Bentall have formally launched a North American real estate investment management platform, the culmination of a partnership started in 2006 between the companies. Bentall originated in 1911 as a small construction company and today is Canada's largest real estate advisory and services organization. Kennedy Associates was established in 1978 and grew to become America's largest independent real estate adviser. Gary Whitelaw is CEO of Bentall Kennedy and is based in Toronto. Michael McKee is CEO of Bentall Kennedy US and is based in Seattle. Bentall Kennedy has more than 400 clients and 130 million square feet of property in Canada and the U.S.
King County Executive Dow Constantine appointed Douglas J. Barnes to a five-year term on the King County Housing Authority Commission. He replaces Peter Orser, president of Weyerhaeuser Real Estate Co., who served two terms. Barnes is a principal of Resource Transition Consultants, an LLC that focuses on distressed property receivership services. Barnes worked for Centex Homes and Intracorp Real Estate of Seattle, and is past president of the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties.

Members of the Washington Association of Sewer and Water Districts elected new board members. Marty Borello, commissioner of Terrace Heights Sewer District in Yakima, will serve as section director on the board. Section directors chair the four geographic sections of the association. Don Monfort of Birch Bay Water and Sewer District will be the next vice president. Ronald Nowicki of Lakehaven Utility District is treasurer. Matt Everett of Highline Water District is management level director. New board members include Robert Fulton of Valley Water District and Norm Harker of Clark Regional Wastewater District.
The LeMay Car Museum in Tacoma said rather than hiring one person to manage collections it will hire guest curators to tell the story of the automobile in an innovative way. The first guest curator will be Ken Gross, a 38-year automotive journalist and author. Gross has curated exhibits for other museums including the High Art Museum of Art in Atlanta. LeMay is set to open next fall.
