Clint Whitney has been named general manager of Glendale Country Club, a private golf club in Bellevue. Whitney has been general manager and director of golf at The Golf Club at Redmond Ridge since 2003.
Jerome Korum was elected president of the Western Washington Fair Association in Puyallup by the board of directors. Other elected officers include Jerry Larson as vice president, Gary Gonter as secretary, Michael Nelson as treasurer and Kent Hojem as CEO. Association activities include the Puyallup Fair in September and Oktoberfest in October.
The REI Foundation, a nonprofit supported by outdoor gear and apparel retailer REI, awarded its first $50,000 Mary Anderson Legacy Grant to San Francisco-based NatureBridge, an environmental education partner of the National Park Service. Established in recognition of REI co-founder Mary Anderson, the grant will assist NatureBridge's efforts to introduce more children to the natural world.






The Inland Northwest Associated General Contractors presented its Tom Mauer Safety Award to Bob Haskins of Dix Corp. The award is given to an individual and/or company that has an accomplished safety program, is active in the AGC Safety Committee, and assists the Inland chapter, AGC members and safety directors in the development of safety programs.

The Tacoma Urban League for Tacoma/Pierce County hired Victoria Woodards as president/CEO. Woodards has been a Tacoma City Council member and worked for the private, public and nonprofit sectors. The league empowers African Americans and other disenfranchised individuals and groups.
Chicago-based CNA Financial Corp., a commercial insurance writer, named Andy Hall branch vice president of the Seattle office. Hall will expand CNA's relationships throughout the Northwest. For the past two years he was senior vice president at GCAN Insurance Co. but had previously worked at CNA.
Seattle's Acucela, a clinical-stage specialty pharmaceutical company focused on developing new treatments for blinding eye diseases, hired Al Reaves as senior vice president, therapeutic development. Reaves has 25 years of drug development experience in ophthalmology and was recently with Othera Pharmaceuticals.
Totib Marketing, a Seattle-based digital marketing agency, hired Shuo Yang as data visualization expert. Yang worked for the University of Washington and Illionix in Seattle as well as consultants and design studios in Beijing, China.
