Holland America Line hired Tony Archbold as director of sales in Australia. Archbold will manage all sales activities. He worked with Creative Holidays, the Australian FIT division of The Travel Corp.
The Friends of Youth board promoted Terry Pottmeyer from chief operating officer to chief executive officer. Pottmeyer replaces retiring CEO Joan Campbell. Pottmeyer joined Friends of Youth in 2010 and has also been chief program officer. Remond-based Friends of Youth delivers therapeutic services for youth, young adults and families.
Clark Nuber, a CPA and consulting firm in Bellevue, made a series of new hires: Lisa Cooke, Jessica Fredlund, Kristina Lum and Erin Mullen as audit associates; Celia Davis, Brandi Fruik and Garry Hoffman as tax associates; and Tram Phi to the senior, state and local tax group.



Bellevue's Burke Electric added Edward “James” Long, Mark Undseth and Chris Sundesten. Long is working on the Snoqualmie Falls rehabilitation project. He has more than 45 years of experience in the electrical industry. Undseth is managing the company's data center, wind power and renewable energy projects. He started his career with Burke in 1975, and was previously working in California for another firm. Sundesten is the company's full-time safety officer. He is responsible for producing environmental and safety plans for specific projects. He is OSHA 510 and 512 certified and is finishing up his 500 certification.
Boise Cascade Engineered Wood Products was one of 10 national winners of 2011 “A,A” Partners of Choice awards for quality and service from David Weekley Homes. The Boise, Idaho-based company has won the award six years in a row. Houston-based Weekley Homes is the third largest privately owned homebuilder in the U.S.
Redmond's National Door received ProVantage Dealer Status from LiftMaster, a maker of residential and commercial garage door openers. National Door was cited for its customer service, product knowledge and business practices. It serves the residential and commercial garage door markets in King and Snohomish counties. Dan and Johnette Pevarnick are the owners.

The Sorrento Hotel hired Rebekah Dahl Alicea as group sales manager and Allie Cason as front office manager. Dahl Alicea has been in the hospitality industry for 16 years and recently was associate director of meetings and special events at the Ritz-Carlton St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. Cason recently worked as front office manager at the San Jose, Calif. location for Fairmont Hotels and Resorts.
KeyBank named Sandra Sliskovic assistant vice president and manager of the Fairwood Renton branch. Located at 13923 S.E. Petrovitsky Road in the Fairwood area, the branch is being built on the site of a former convenience store and is expected to open in late September, followed by a family-style grand opening in October. Sliskovic joined KeyBank in 2003.
The Seattle Channel hired John Giamberso as general manager after a national search. Giamberso was station manager at King County Television, a manager with Comcast and has worked at Seattle Channel for the last decade as operations manager and production manager.
PORTLAND (AP) — The Oregon heart surgeon who pioneered heart valve replacements is returning to his roots at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland. The Oregonian reports that Dr. Albert Starr is going to be a special adviser at OHSU, where he began his work on prosthetic heart valves more than 50 years ago. The heart valve that Starr helped invent has been used to treat more than 175,000 patients. The 85-year-old Starr says he now hopes to focus on developing pumps to combat congestive heart failure.
