VIA Architecture

VIA Architecture hired Dan Bertolet as an urban planner. He has more than seven years of experience including station area planning, town center redevelopment, Hope VI master planning, mixed-use and sustainability analysis. He created hugeasscity, which he describes as “a blog about the concept of hugeass cities, and Seattle as interpreted through the hugeass city lens.” He will continue to head up Citytank, another blog about cities he created. Bertolet holds a master's degree in urban design and planning, and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering. Via works in architecture, infrastructure, planning and community building.

KPFF Consulting Engineers

KPFF Consulting Engineers promoted Emily George and Beth Jensen to associate. George joined the firm as a structural engineer in 2005. She has had a lead role on projects, including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers District Headquarters at Federal Center South. Jensen is a structural engineer who rejoined KPFF in 2008. She is leading design of a number of multifamily projects, including Avalon Bay Communities in Ballard, and is lead on the Bellevue Botanical Gardens Visitors' Center addition.

Core Design

Core Design hired Lindsey Altenburg as a landscape designer. Altenburg will support the landscape department on a number of projects. Core Design is a civil engineering, planning, surveying, landscape architecture and urban design firm.

Mayer/Reed

Portland-based design studio Mayer/Reed hired Liz Talley as an environmental graphic designer and Kerry White as a landscape architect. Talley has 10 years of experience in signage, dimensional graphics and wayfinding. She is working on signage and wayfinding for Legacy Health's Emanuel Medical Center. She worked for design firms in New York and Dallas. White is working on the Collaborative Life Sciences Building and Skourtes Tower at the Oregon Health and Science University Schnitzer Campus in Portland. She previously did landscape architecture design at Boise State University. Mayer/Reed provides landscape architecture, urban design, environmental graphics and product design.

Hanson Professional Services

Hanson Professional Services hired railroad designer Theresa Nagle in the Seattle-area office. She has 25 years of experience as a project coordinator and engineering technician for transportation and civil development projects. Nagle is working as a rail designer on projects including the BNSF Railway Co.'s Vader to Napavine triple track project in Washington. She was designer and CADD technician for a section of a Texas highway and a section of an Indiana roadway in both urban and rural areas. She was designer or co-designer for roadway extensions and renovations. Hanson Professional Services provides engineering, architecture, planning and allied services.

Jensen Maritime

Seattle-based Jensen Maritime, a naval architecture and marine engineering firm owned by Crowley Maritime, hired Dan Babcock as manager of business development. Babcock has 15 years of experience in operations management, product development and service engineering and spent three years as a service engineer in the marine industry.

Banner Bank

Banner Bank hired Bruce Campbell as vice president/commercial real estate relationship manager. Based in Bellevue, Campbell will focus on residential construction and development lending in the Greater Puget Sound area. Campbell spent a decade working for First Horizon National as an SVP market and relationship manager.

La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries

The La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries store at 17305 Southcenter Parkway has reopened under new management. Chris Washko is the new store owner. He is also reopening stores in Lynnwood, Tacoma and Silverdale. Together, the four locations total 66,000 square feet.
