EHS Design hired Chris Hamilton as a principal overseeing client and business development for the financial, retail and corporate sectors. Hamilton worked at Callison for 24 years, and was founder and principal in charge of the financial industry group. Under him, the group grew from $75,000 to $11 million in gross yearly earnings. His clients included Key Bank, Chase and HSBC. He also led teams that worked for international banks such as Bancomer Mexico and Banco de Chile. Seattle-based EHS provides planning, interior design and architecture.


Berger Partnership hired Magdalena Celinska as a technical staff member and Jasmeen Bains as a summer intern. Celinska did an internship report about Seattle urban agriculture that won an award from WASLA, and is working on the Rainier Beach urban farm project. Bains will study how natural and unnatural systems and ecologies influence environmental processes in the urban environment. Bains is doing graduate studies in landscape architecture at the University of Toronto. Berger provides landscape architectural and site planning.

WHPacific hired Robert G. “Bob” Macomber as president. He has 22 years of leadership and business development experience in the real estate, land development and energy industries. Macomber was president at Atwell-Hicks, a land development and energy consulting firm, and senior executive at Bowman Consulting Group, which specializes in residential, commercial and retail development. WHPacific provides architecture, engineering, land development, landscape architecture, surveying, scanning and water resources services.

Kristina Hammer was hired as a staff engineer at Seattle-based Quantum Consulting Engineers. Hammer holds a master's in civil engineering from Washington State University, and is a member of Tau Beta Pi. Quantum provides structural, seismic and structural engineering.


Reid Middleton, an Everett-based engineering, planning and surveying firm, named Simeon Alejo chief financial officer, and selected a new board chairman and officers. The chairman is Ken Andersen and the president is Bob Galteland. The other officers are Shannon Kinsella, Hugh Kuyper, Dave Swanson, Simeon Alejo and Mike Wallace. Alejo was accounting manager for 14 years. His election to the board is part of a two-year transition plan while former CFO Mary Anne Lord prepares to retire. Andersen is principal/director of Reid Middleton's Alaska office and works with the Everett leadership. He does structural engineering for new projects and renovations in Alaska.
The Blueline Group hired Brett Pudists as a project engineer. He has 15 years of civil engineering, development and project management experience on residential and commercial projects. Blueline provides civil engineering and land use planning to developers and municipalities in the Pacific Northwest.
Matthew Anderson, Colin Kuester and Jonathan Padvorac with PND Engineers earned their Washington engineer's license. They are staff engineers with the consulting engineering firm, which has offices in Anchorage, Juneau and Seattle.
Bellevue-based Point Inside hired Corey Mandell as chief technical officer. Mandell has 30 years of enterprise platform development experience and was recently senior vice president of product engineering at Kaseya. Point Inside applies indoor location and customer engagement technologies to help retailers connect with customers in real-time.
Bellevue-based AAA Washington hired Patrick McCormick as vice president of insurance. McCormick was head of partner development at PlanMember Financial Corp., a securities and advisory firm. Prior to that, he worked at Safeco Life Insurance for 20 years and stayed through the transition to Symetra Financial. AAA Washington provides insurance products to more than one million members in Washington and northern Idaho.
The Oregon University System announced Michael Gottfredson is the new president of the University of Oregon. Gottfredson was vice chancellor and provost at the University of California, Irvine, and succeeds interim president Robert Berdahl as of Aug. 1.
